Would you seriously do away with security and have some idiot take a pot-shot at the queen or William for example? Think what a coup that would be for man extremist.

OK Jalima, straight choice - millions of taxpayers pounds spent annually on the Royal circus, or that same amount put towards providing at least some housing to reduce the number of homeless?
Or would you prefer the current arrangement to continue so the minor royals have somewhere to visit on the odd occasion that they have a spare morning to fill?

I know Charlotte can wave very nicely but I don't think she's up to toddling off on her own to all the charities which like Royal support; perhaps when she, George and Louis are old enough to do that, then Anne et al will retire.

I don't know Annie do charities really depend on royal support? There are many who have no royal connections. There are people all over the country whose liveliehood is taken away from them through no fault of their own.

She also had an operation when she was 12 to correct a curvature of the spine and still has two titanium rods in her back.
And she does go to talk to other young people who may be undertaking this operation, which carries a risk of paralysis with it.

Jalima, if we didn't have to pay for the royal family and sundry hangers-on, we might have more cash to support the homeless by building houses.

Eugenie is a minor royal in real terms (although the Queen's grandaughter. She is an afterthought in all royal pageantry these days, so why on earth does she need to parade through Windsor afterwards?

And as for her fiance - who on earth is he? Could we pick him out in a crowd? No. He is as much as a nonentity as she is.

No we wouldn't Annie the five would be Queenie and direct descendants. That sounds reasonable to me.
There really isn't any reason for us to fund any part of the others' lives.
They have had the very best start in life, so they should be more than able to generate their own incomes.

If the list had in the previous generation been reduced to five we would have had queenie, Phillip, Charles and wife and William, no Anne, no Sophie Wessex , no Edward who has taken over the DofE Awards, they do a lot of charity work.

I agree with those who reduce the list to 5. Then in due course when another generation comes along, the sibs in the current generation come off the list. Clear and fair.

The majority of the Windsors and guests did travel to William and Kate’s wedding and the wedding of Charles and Camilla by rented buses. Not queenie or her husband or Charles and Camilla but the rest did . Well William and Kate didn’t arrive at their own wedding by bus . At Harry’s wedding most of the Windsors walked from the castle .

We were on holiday in Delft a few years ago when one of the Dutch princes (not the then heir to the throne) got married there. The guests arrived in buses which were part of the normal service bus fleet borrowed for the occasion. There appeared to be minimal disruption to traffic. We found it hard to imagine any of our Royal family getting on to a bus for any reason. It is worth noting that the Dutch Royal Family do seem to be very popular!

Now Jalima why would they need to do a "smash and grab raid" they get everything handed to them on a silver platter..with little or no effort from them.
I repeat ,its a medieval concept unfit for a modern world.The days when people had to bow and scrape to their"superiors" are long gone but sadly the mainly English public has to hang on to this out of date lifestyle.Why DO so many in England( its a very different story in Scotland) feel the need for servitude at this level? Lizzie and her ever expanding brood of scroungers are not superior to me or anyone I know .Most of us have the dignity to work for what we have and not just stick our hands out for massive rises from the public on a regular basis or expect the masses to be grateful that they exist to fleece the country decade upon decade for centuries .It was reported (after her death) that the queen mother treated the treasury as her personal bank account ...and got away with doing it.Seems the rest had a good teacher they ALL do the same thing !

I feel sorry for her. But she does have an estimated fortune of over £3 million I read somewhere so she could afford to contribute towards the cost of security at least.
