Aibu. DH watched me strip the guest bed this week saw the linen drying and then watched me iron it and put it back on the bed ready for whoever stays next. The next night he moved into that bed because I was snoring. Agh!
I haven’t said anything because on a previous occasion I spent half day cleaning bathroom for guests coming the next day only to find him using it instead of the en-suite we usually use. This caused a huge argument. Is it me?

Look, I can't not say this. "She who must be obeyed" comes from the novel 'She' by H Rider Haggard. Rumple only used it.

Carry on with the thread.

Gonegirl Thu 07-Feb-19 17:41:04

"She" was Ayesha.

Gonegirl Thu 07-Feb-19 17:41:58

Rumpole. Not rumpled.

Although he was wasn't he?

Jalima1108 Thu 07-Feb-19 17:42:18

That thought was crossing my mind as I posted Gonegirl
but most people have heard of it as used by Rumpole and I can picture his face as he says it

grin

Gonegirl Thu 07-Feb-19 17:52:37

Yes. Me too.

That was one of the first grownup books I read and I hated it. Couldn't make head nor tail of it. ?

Being male or female is only a part of someone's personality. Many other characteristics go to make a complete person, and some of those attract praise or criticism. There are quite a lot of male posters on the forum and I don't think they all find that they receive prejudice for their posts. It must be the different personality chracteristics, and attitudes or ways of expressing them, not the sex or gender, which determine the reactions they get.

Grandad1943 Thu 07-Feb-19 18:02:44

Elegran, you have women openly stating in this thread that men should not be on this forum because women predominate on here.

It is there for all to see.

Iam64 Thu 07-Feb-19 18:19:49

Elegran, as ever, manages to say a lot with a few words. Thank you Elegran for reminding us all that being male or female is part of our personalities. You are so right, it's the different personality characteristics that prompt the response, not the gender of the person making the comments.

Elegran Thu 07-Feb-19 19:03:11

Grandad Many of the threads on GN are about "women's problems" and some women would prefer to discuss predominently female topics in the company of women only. Some others just prefer to chat with women. The vast majority of members are happy to chat to any congenial poster who doesn't constantly criticise them, and that is evident on most threads.

This is one of the few where on the surface there could appear to be conflict, but if you look a little deeper the conflict fades away.

When Rufus2 joined he was at first insistent that he wanted to talk to the men. He seems now to have become reconciled to talking to women and even appears to enjoy the experience, but he also enjoys winding them up with tongu-in-cheek anti-women pronouncements. Is he a misogynist? No, I don't think so, in fact I think he rather likes women, but he does disguise that with a bit of banter. That is what the posters are doing on here with what you see as humiliating their menfolk but those posting and most reading see as affection. What is more important, I suspect that if those men are aware of what is said about them they see it as affection too. They don't need you to defend them; they are not under attack.

Well said Elegran, a leavening of a GSOH might help you Grandad to both understand what is going on and to make a meaningful contribution.

Gender doesn't matter, attitude does.

Grandad1943 Thu 07-Feb-19 20:00:55

MawBroon, I did not state that you posted the Phrase "elf & safety" in the same thread as the Grenfell Towers" thread. However, you made that statement a few weeks later in a thread which was discussing industrial safety in regard to another matter.

As for me threatening you with legal action, please could you furnish this forum with evidence of my doing that? That stated, I recall reminding you that your attitude towards people with disabilities I believed was in breach of the Equalities act 2010. There is a very big difference between the foregoing and actually threatening legal action against someone.

MawBroon i feel that in reality you are solely driven by being against any man being a member of this forum as your posts in this thread in response to Rufus well demonstrates.

kittylester Thu 07-Feb-19 20:01:16

Well said phoenix

Cherrytree59, there may we be a forum of the name you quote. However, due to the wonderful warm welcome I received when I arrived here by mistake, I am now very definitely staying and posting on a regular basis

MawBroon Thu 07-Feb-19 20:09:29

Clearly hate men don’t I? ???

Grandad1943 Thu 07-Feb-19 20:14:13

Apologies, should be "may be a forum" above. Please take out the "we" wink

phoenix Thu 07-Feb-19 20:17:45

Thank you kitty

Grandad1943 stay and post as much as you like, it's an open forum after all, but perhaps you might want to give a bit more consideration to what you have written before you press the "post" button. The "preview" button could be a good option.

However, I think I may be wasting my time.

You created and posted the above question Mawbroon not me, so I will leave you to answer it.

Grandad1943 Thu 07-Feb-19 20:21:29

Phoenix, yes you are.

MawBroon Thu 07-Feb-19 20:26:36

Of course I don’t hate men, but my tolerance threshold for pompous pr**ks is remarkably low.

Iam64 Thu 07-Feb-19 20:27:38

MawBroon. - you put into words what I've been trying not to do for several pages now.

MissAdventure Thu 07-Feb-19 20:28:56

Oh, I do wish we had a 'snigger' icon!
