Am I missing something? how can a deal only be acceptable if TM resigns ?
Or is it just bad wording , bribery etc etc.
EITHER a deal is suitable or it isn’t
Please help me understand ?

to ship not "the ship"

GrannyIris5 Thu 28-Mar-19 08:29:15

Sparklefizz I totally agree, we could make a list and add some other ‘waste of space’ persons to sail away with them.
One of the biggest messes is this thing about the International Driving Permit, no body understands it and no p o near me has it. Not that I need one at the moment.

sodapop Thu 28-Mar-19 09:08:00

I agree with Sparklefizz and GrannyIris ship them out. It's a worrying time for us expats as well, we are already feeling a bit of the backlash.

Gonegirl Thu 28-Mar-19 09:24:55

I think it's simply a bribe. She knows they want to get rid of her. She wants her deal through. This is the only way she can get it through. They can't force her out any other way because they've already had the vote of no confidence which means she stays in for another year.

She is making a sacrifice.

Urmstongran Thu 28-Mar-19 09:35:09

In what way are you feeling any backlash sodapop as an ex pat? Nothing has changed (yet).

Gonegirl Thu 28-Mar-19 09:38:05

Maybe the natives are becoming less friendly?

Nonnie Thu 28-Mar-19 10:36:59

I think she has made another misjudgement and hope she falls flat on her face.

Please remember that some of those well known Leave MPs were on the negotiating team but resigned. Imo they did so because they would look stupid not being able to negotiate what they promised.

As I have said on another thread I would like TM to leave today and put one of the ERG in place and then we will all know just how false their promises were.

Cue for a song:

Here I am ... stuck in the middle with you."

Because they are all a load of snakes hissing around in their nasty little snake pit , otherwise known at The House of Commons.

Back stabbers, hypocrites and wannabe's !

Urmstongran Thu 28-Mar-19 11:22:11

I beg to disagree Nonnie as I think DD, BJ and Raab all resigned because TM listed to Olly Robbins (a Remainer like herself) rather than a Brexiteer ‘Brexit’ minister. She wanted to negotiate the softest Brexit deal that she thought would pass muster. Shocking really.

Which is why we are where we are.
☹️

Nonnie Thu 28-Mar-19 11:45:51

Urmston is that your opinion or have they said as much? If that is so they are a pretty weak bunch but then so seem to be most of them. Yesterday was a debacle as clearly the Tories were doing just what TM told them to. No backbone at all

What on earth is that long link above?

Bathsheba Thu 28-Mar-19 12:36:29

It's a chart of how the votes went yesterday Sparklefizz. Click on it and you'll see.

chattykathy Thu 28-Mar-19 12:37:03

This has been the ERG's plan all along. Push her to resign and then install a hard brexiteer. Heaven help us all!

grannysue05 Thu 28-Mar-19 12:43:08

Chattykathy you could 'install a hard brexiteer' but as the EU will not accept further changes, what difference will that make?

Zsarina Thu 28-Mar-19 13:02:27

T.M. Has bent over backwards to leave even tho she firmly believes that it is bad for the country....the problem is her party has too much secret niggling and someone always think they could do better...for T.M peace of mind and her health then I think she should say well you do it then..that’s what Cameron did...and he’s looking good now. As is Blair...
Look after yourself now T...
As for votes. They are not worth the paper they are written on...We should not have had a vote on go or stay...We put a government in and they should be allowed to govern to the best of their ability...at the next vote the leavers should vote them out...and even that is now in peril ...we vote for a certain mp in our constituency only to find that they have changed their support...what about my support. If I vote conservative or labour or god forbid independents then that’s who I want ...if they don’t like the party then we should have an immediate vote to put someone else in their place ....and I believe the mps that have left the government should be ashamed of themselves and suspended immediately

MamaCaz Thu 28-Mar-19 13:07:19

All I can say is that unless her motive is bribery, TM must really dislike her own deal, if she feels the need to resign if it does get through!

Beammeupscottie Thu 28-Mar-19 13:08:04

They will vote tomorrow for her WA.. If defeated let loose the dogs of war. What a mess. Just forget the whole business of Brexit and let us enjoy our Summer (some effing hope of that).

Zsarina Thu 28-Mar-19 13:12:53

PS....Who shall we have after they have forced T.M.out
JEREMY CORBYN.....God help us I would laugh if it wasn’t so funny....please remember that this country could never hope to recover from the debt that labour left us in and every MP since has tried and until the country is fixed then the people will never be able to prosper

Grandad1943 Thu 28-Mar-19 13:37:51

In supporting Mays deal in exchange for her resignation as Prime Minister, those MPs are acting in a total self-serving manner.

In that, they realise that they could go for her job themselves, or support someone else for the job in the knowledge that should that person get to be Prime Minister; they will get a nice senior ministerial position themselves.

what else would anyone expect in the Conservative party these days?

Mind you; there are those doing similar in the Labour party also. hmm

chattykathy Thu 28-Mar-19 15:30:39

Grannysue05 I meant for the next stage of the negotiations.

sodapop Thu 28-Mar-19 17:39:46

Urmston I meant in so far as we have been getting more pointed comments from neighbours etc and generally from the French community.

Momof3 Thu 28-Mar-19 23:01:26

Oh stop the last recession was the result of a global crash because we live in a global economy. Which is what lots of people could do with remembering.

Urmstongran Thu 28-Mar-19 23:52:20

Ah, right. I understand sodapop.
Thank you for posting.
People, places though eh?
In Malaga, where we have a little place, our Spanish friends were actually envious of our Brexit vote in 2016. Not sure now, 3y later with all the in fighting ha!
I an honestly say we have never encountered any negativity.
Well, not yet ...

Brexit was all about Boris Johnson fulfilling his ambition to be PM (IMO)
