I have been on this site for a few years, but usually just read.

I went back to university this year for a Masters in Food Innovation and my group are developing a food product which as well as being enjoyable to eat, will help with age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia).

Would you be willing to help us by answering a short survey? We don’t need your name or address and the answers will help in our project assessment.

Thank you so much. The link is

Dear Nanna I will do your survey. I read an interesting article this past week about the relationship between sarcopenia and outcomes for older people who have cancer. Avoiding muscle loss (as much as possible) is apparently very important.

Here's a link to the paper in case of interest:

Oh thank you grannyknot, I will go and read your article!

I should clarify that you do not need to be suffering from sarcopenia, or even to have ever heard of it, to help with the survey.

I ve filled it in but probably not a lot of help as I rarely eat desserts

I've completed the survey. I'm fit at present, but do sometimes worry about aging. The more we can do to help ourselves, the better.
Good luck with your project.

Completed. Very curious to learn the connection between frozen deserts and muscle loss.

Sorry - desserts not the tundra.

Oh, thank you so much. The idea is to create a product that contains protein, which contributes to muscle building. Body builders eat a high protein diet to build their muscles, so the idea is that as we age, more protein is important. But many of us are reducing red meat in their diet, and older people find it more difficult to chew swallow and digest meat. So we want to make it fun and enjoyable to increase protein! Thanks again to all respondents.

I just did it. I wouldn’t be very inclined to buy a frozen dessert with extra protein. I have a few types of ice cream I buy as an occasional treat. Otherwise we buy very little processed food.
I am aware of the importance of protein in diet and eat plenty of cheese, eggs, meat and fish. Not concerned about fat or red meat- everything in moderation.
However, I may not be typical, so good luck with product development.!
