What a disgraceful speech, by AW, with the obnoxious NF laughing along.
Wither or not you want to leave the EU, the behaviour of these two was IMO shameful.

Speaking your mind seems to be a metaphor nowadays for ‘nasty little bigot who should crawl back under the rock from whence they came’.

oh yes I agree, there is always a few who pop up on threads like this. Lol. Pot and black

SirChenjin Sun 07-Jul-19 18:35:26

Yep, and your rock is that way crafty

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 18:35:59

my comment about AW was ‘religious bigot’

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 18:39:25

Nor did I use the word ‘Little’

SirChenjin Sun 07-Jul-19 18:40:27

Crafty was quoting me Bridgeit smile

Was thinking exactly the same Firecracker.

Such left wing hatred and vitriol. Blimey!!! shock

You'll never silence AW. She is wrong about some things, and I do not share her religious convictions. However, she is one of those who has ALWAYS been straight-talking. She will always come back firing on all cylinders. She always has. For decades. What's new?

She tells it as it is - so rare in a politician - (but Benn senior was the same) and that is anathema to some. They hate straight talking.

AW hit a nerve. She was spot on about the way in which the latest EU appointments were made, she was right to warn the other member states about the appalling lack of democracy within the EU. And why shouldn't she state the UK's intention to get out of that stinking mess?

Criticise her all you like, but her maiden speech was a breath of fresh air in that corrupt EU labyrinth.

Trouble is, it's a lavish gravy train for so many politicians and bureaucrats , and no one wants to derail it and give up their lucrative MEP posting.

It's a bit like wallpapering over the cracks to dismiss AW. No wonder the amount of Remainer flak and personal abuse going her way for speaking the truth. hmm

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 18:43:14

Ohh thanks for that SirChenjin, But happy to be on the same wave length ?

SirChenjin Sun 07-Jul-19 18:44:34

Absolutely hate and vitriol for AW (though not left wing). She brings it all on herself by her abhorrent views.

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 18:50:42

NF was watching her & grinning like a Cheshire Cat, smirking at having found himself a ‘fall guy’

As I have said before , A few years ago I eagerly attended a speech she was giving.
She did not engage with the audience , couldn’t wait to leave even though we had paid good money to listen to her.

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 19:00:21

And flogging her book !

SirChenjin Sun 07-Jul-19 19:04:28

Did you buy it Bridgeit?!

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 19:05:00

Absolutely not ?

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 19:07:11

Hearing was enough !

Day6 Sun 07-Jul-19 19:08:05

her abhorrent views

Most religious people fervently believe the doctrine, the messages in their holy books, don't they?

Most world religions are intolerant of homo sexually, and that intolerance today is shameful. AW is one Catholic. She voiced her opinion, which is daft, given she is in the public eye. That will haunt her - and hopefully give rise to the belief that she is wrong, because of the publicity it haas generated.

However, to use that against her as she made her maiden speech to the gathered EU politicians is rather lame.

No one will admit that what she said was true. The EU is NOT democratic.

So do carry on writing about how much you hate her. Whether you do or not doesn't disguise the fact that she caused huge and memorable waves with her EU speech. No one else dare speak the truth in Brussels, it seems.(For reasons of retaining their lucrative careers, maybe?)

Interesting times. hmm

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 19:13:50

Don’t need to use that aspect against her, as I could never support NF or his Brexit party.
I would have more respect for him & his views if he didn’t take the money.

SirChenjin Sun 07-Jul-19 19:22:20

Her views on homosexuality, and shackling pregnant women, and her poor judgement likening membership of the EU to the horrors of slavery and on and on.

So absolutely I will keep writing about her. She is far more than her rabble rousing speech on the EU and to ignore or minimise her wider abhorrent views is not interesting in the slightest.

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 19:44:58

Day6 Sun 07-Jul-19 19:56:42

OK, carry on bashing her for her religious convictions.

That however cannot detract from the fact that she made a barnstorming, eccentric and memorable maiden speech listing the EU's failings.

She listed the failings of the EU in a very short space of time. Clever to generate so much publicity probably. You have to remember that many people, like me, who abhor homophobia, and would take AW to task over it, should we ever meet face to face - can cheer on an old woman ranting about the stinking, undemocratic EU that gobbles up £39, 000, 000, 000 of taxpayers money every year.

SirChenjin Sun 07-Jul-19 20:07:25

You can repeat your views on the EU all you like - that doesn’t detract from the fact that AW is a loathsome individual with revolting views that have no place in civilised society.

Bridgeit Sun 07-Jul-19 20:29:19

Day6, I would question the integrity & opinions of any Politician who held & vocalised such abhorrent beliefs .

Neither will Shouting ( ranting) achieve a good outcome, it just alienates the shouter from whomsoever it is one is trying to negotiate with.

FarNorth Sun 07-Jul-19 21:11:51

The Brexit Party's only policy is "We're off" so I suppose AW didn't have a lot to work with.

Lessismore Sun 07-Jul-19 21:15:49

bashing......some of you love that word. Nobody is bashing and there is nothing Christian about this woman.

Lessismore Sun 07-Jul-19 21:16:49

Do you have gay children, grandchildren , friends????

lemongrove Sun 07-Jul-19 21:18:15

No, why?

lemongrove Sun 07-Jul-19 21:22:23

I thought her speech in the EU chamber was all about the EU, not any reference to gay people.
