An important case is underway in Canada.
Should female beauticians be legally obliged to provide intimate waxing services to transwomen with penises (men)?

You know what? I think I have given a lot of help on here since I joined in various threads but I guess I was wanting a forum I could have some laughs in as well. Not only serious stuff!

From this total nonsense today, It has made me realise I am not going to get it on Gransnet. Seems you have a 'code' of what to say and what not to say. You know? I don't really need this! I think what I need is a forum for 70's children to reminisce....the fun we had then! Drink, drugs, sex ..whatever.

I thought I would get it on gransnet as I am a grannie of lots now! But I still remember my youth and the fun I had before I had kids. I Was far from perfect but I don't feel I can discuss here because it is frowned on! It seems to be all flawless grannies! Mustn't mention sex or adultery or anything else other than the steriotypical grannie problems!!! Delicate ears might read it and be affronted and then you spend time apologising for offending these delicate creatures who never seem to have had a life!

From the report in the link :

what [Jessica Yaniv] will soon be best known for is her attempt to take more than a dozen women, almost all of whom come from minority backgrounds to the B.C Human Rights Tribunal while also demanding money from them, to the sum of $3000 in some cases.

Why?
Because they refused to wax Jessica’s scrotum.

According to Yaniv, estheticians should be obliged to provide waxing services to a female-identifying trans person and religious and cultural views should not interfere with the ability to access that service.

“The people that discriminated against me are forcing their beliefs on society,” said Yaniv.

While Yaniv disregards the cultural or religious beliefs of the esthetician, she is making the ballsy argument that people should be forced to wax clients with male genitalia if they self-identify as a woman.

Jessica Yaniv is a man.

Err? Elegran I have no idea what you mean about teeheehees being grubby? No I haven't been a member long but ....what do you mean? Laughing is grubby? My mind is 'grubby' because I laughed about something? ..Yes I have a LOT to learn about Gransnet then lol ---- oops is that grubby saying that?

kircubbin2000 Fri 19-Jul-19 21:01:14

Why on earth would you want to be waxed?

Bridgeit Fri 19-Jul-19 21:01:01

Perhaps some of us have more pressing matters to worry about & attend to than to be overly concerned or not that a lovely human being has been mis pro noun-ed .
I don’t think anyone should be obliged to perform a service they aren’t comfy with , that would be ‘inverted discrimination’ rights work both way ie if you have a right to do something then surely you have a right not to !

Elegran Fri 19-Jul-19 21:00:09

It was the teeheehees that were grubby, Ted, they gave a distinct impression that your mind was too. Gransnet isn't as stuffy as you seem to think, though. Perhaps you haven't been a member very long?

Elegran Fri 19-Jul-19 20:57:00

So should beauticians who offer a Brazilian wax be legally obliged to wax scrota? (plural of scrotum, before you ask)

Though I can't imagine any one except a masochist actually wanting to experience this service. Maybe non-masochists would do better to use a hair removal cream? Maybe not - see the reviews of Veet For Men at www.amazon.co.uk/Veet-Men-Hair-Removal-Cream/product-reviews/B00KX3PF22?tag=gransnetforum-21

Tedber Fri 19-Jul-19 20:55:44

'grubby' Suzie...what was 'grubby' about it? It was just an anecdote from me. Nothing for you to get upset about. Nothing personal so not sure why you are so upset. Move on

suziewoozie Fri 19-Jul-19 20:49:58

Tedber you have absolutely no idea what any of us are (and were) like. Not appreciating your grubby little post does not make me stuffy

GrannyGravy13 Fri 19-Jul-19 20:42:00

Tedber I am so far from "proper" it's hilarious........ but if you have a penis you can identify as whatever you like - but you are not a flipping woman!!!!!

Riverwalk Fri 19-Jul-19 20:41:46

I wish people would read the link or get acquainted with the story - it's not about the technicalities of waxing a scrotum or the differences between male/female genitalia.

fizzers Fri 19-Jul-19 20:40:34

Tbh, Tedber I laughed at your post, I'm also finding folks a bit too stuffy on here , perhaps this place isn't for me

Tedber Fri 19-Jul-19 20:39:55

crazyH Thank you for your sanctimonious post lol

Tedber Fri 19-Jul-19 20:37:48

OK Suzie...maybe I thought it was funny? But after posting I wondered if the world of gransnet could laugh so hence the reason I apologised to anyone who felt offended by me mentioning porn and "bits" etc.

Once again, am sorry I offended you. Not my intention but I do think gransnet is a bit too stuffy for the likes of me! Sometimes I feel everyone is 'pretending' to be these perfect responsible people who never ever had a life before they became old! I was probably a disgrace to the race in my younger days t.b.h. and what I felt then is not what I felt or behave now but....it is still there. smile

MawBroonsback Fri 19-Jul-19 20:35:58

Dizzyblonde I repeat.

dizzyblonde Fri 19-Jul-19 20:34:59

Waxing a scrotum requires a different set of skills to waxing labia. The skin is ‘baggier’ and more easily ripped.

MawBroonsback Fri 19-Jul-19 20:30:33

Lots of things may be true but I do not necessarily want them drawn to my attention.

crazyH Fri 19-Jul-19 20:30:06

Tedder, glad you have the decency to apologise........please apply that principle (decency) to your future posts. Thankyou .

suziewoozie Fri 19-Jul-19 20:25:54

Because something is true, it doesn’t make it any less distasteful. In fact it’s irrelevant that it’s true ( or not). If you thought some might not appreciate your post, why did you nevertheless post it?

Tedber Fri 19-Jul-19 20:21:30

Yep...I thought some people would Suzie Apologies to anyone who finds it offensive. It is true never the less.

suziewoozie Fri 19-Jul-19 20:11:27

And I find your post somewhat distasteful Tedber

suziewoozie Fri 19-Jul-19 20:10:21

No soda it’s not that - it’s about providing the service to men with penises who self identify as women. It’s absolutely appalling that these beauticians are being subject to this

MissAdventure Fri 19-Jul-19 20:05:37

I'd make 'em wince alright!

sodapop Fri 19-Jul-19 20:02:25

I think its probably more the case that they need grounds for refusing a service to men when they give a similar service to women Tedber.
Makes me wince a little thinking of it.
