A spider just crawled down my sleeve and up the curtain

I would never kill a spider, though I do have to admit that over a certain size, and they have to be removed (gently) from house to garden. Currently I'm rather fond of one which appears to be living in the en suite bathroom... I wonder what it's living on? (Which is why it has leave to remain there)

I don’t like them in the house, the other night as I was getting ready for bed I looked up and there in the middle of the ceiling a whopper just sitting there ?. I couldn’t climb on the bed it’s too high so had to go get my 2 step ladder a glass and piece of card. Up the ladder onto the bed ? still just sitting there I got the glass over it and slid the card in then try to get back onto the ladder downstairs unlock back door and traipse to the bottom of the garden to tip him out, thank god he was still in there after all that.

Alexa it would have been worse if it had crawled down the curtain and up your sleeve! Bet you wouldn't have been calm then.
When I was teaching it was necessary to stay calm whatever creature appeared in the classroom. I would insist to the children that whatever it was would not hurt them and it was probably more frightened than they were, then try and catch the beastie with a glass and a bit of card.

I like spiders and go to a lot of trouble to catch them and rehome them. But I must admit I don't like them actually ON me! So I chase them with a plastic box, or, failing that, my feather duster, then take them outside .

I freaked out the other day when one of my cats brought in a live baby rat (my house backs onto farmland) and it ran over my foot - Ugh! I rescued it and tipped it back into the field, but overnight either another or the same one was deposited dead under my table.

When I was at Junior High (when we had the three school system in the Seventies) the boys used to collect daddy long legs and stick handfuls of them down the back of the girls necks. The only thing we could do was run to the toilets and strip off.....the girls toilets used to be full of the little blighters. The boys loved it because it made the girls scream so the only way to stop them was not to react. By the time the boys got bored most of us were no longer phased by the tickly legged creatures

Spiders I don’t mind but moths and daddy long legs are a different matter!

My DDiL was working as a Sister on AandE and a man came in with deafness and itching in one of his ears. She spent a few minutes looking through one of those instruments (don’t know name) in his ear when all of a sudden this long thin spider leg waved at her. ?

I`m terrified of spiders, all insects and creepy crawlies in fact, except for butterflies and ladybirds. I love mice, they`re cute, don`t mind rats as long as they don`t come in the house. I like frogs and toads, love snakes and caterpillars, but show me a worm, and I`m off!

I put my old wellies on yesterday to scrub the little patio paving stones (mainly to vent my anger and frustration ) . They had been in the shed for months and I was so frighted to put my foot in I had to poke a brush in first just Incase some nasty spider ? thingy wasn’t lurking inside. Instead I found mouse droppings and my lovely picnic blanket has been demolished .

I had been watching The Snow Spider on children's television and maybe that made all the difference

I've never been worried by spiders. I tend to pick them up an out them outside.
My mother used to say, "if you want to live and thrive, let a spider run alive."

Ilike spiders ,I made it my job to see my GD's aren't scared of them.They all know the spiders are far more scared than they are and are happy to pick up and put them outside .Sometimes if we have one we cant reach they give it a name and track its progress accross the ceiling and down the wall until they can catch it .Wish I could say the same about bees ,but they're getting there as they understand how important bees are now that they're a bit older,they dont scram anymore..thats a start .

For crying out loud. Isn't Covid 19 enough!! I thought the awful things were banished until Sept/Oct this year. Now I am frightened to look for an ything lost under my bed!!!

Nope, all this talk about the good spiders do is part of their evil plan! They are the devil’s horsemen, be in no doubt! ☠️☠️☠️

Suggest people read about spiders and the good they do. They are part of the ecosystem and aren't the least bit interested in humans.

I have a humane spider catcher thing which now means I can move the critters outside in a big brave girl way, but they still give me the horrors. You were very brave Alexa

Actually Gillybob, you just reminded me of something when I was about 14. I was ironing my dads shirts in a daze, I pushed the iron up the sleeve and this huge slightly singed moth flew out and flapped in my face! Iron, ironing board, shirt all got thrown across the room

It’s moths for me . Couldn’t sleep knowing there was a moth around . Shuddering thinking about it .

We generally have a large house spider living in our sitting room over the winter. So big you can hear her feet pattering across the floor. She comes in through the air brick and having her in means no other spiders - or their webs. She eats them all. This last winter we didn't see her, so perhaps it is the same one and she's died from old age. This morning I cleared fine webs from behind the units and pictures and turfed the occupants outside. Hopefully one of her daughters will come in this autumn.

I'm fine with spiders, snakes, rats, frogs etc. But I don't like handling live fish or slimy things and I'll cross the road rather than walk near a dead thing. Can't cope with corpses.

I would never kill any insects in my garden, oh, wait, greenfly and blackfly I kill and the occasional wasp if it won't leave me alone. However, if a spider comes into my home, I encourage it to leave. If it stamps its foot and refuses, then I'm afraid it's dead! I always think, if I was the same size as the spider, it would give me a bite which paralysed me, then it would cocoon me up and leave me hanging somewhere to tenderise and then return and eat me, so no conscience here I'm afraid. Daddy long legs, now that's anther matter entirely, I usually run round the room waving my arms like a bloody windmill screaming to my DH "Get it, kill it, for f***s sake kill it!!"
