Also the beach visitors at some resorts were filmed tucking into their ice creams. The woman who ran one ice cream parlour said she had been flat out all day, and had done all she could to make it safe, but needed to get her business up and running again. Ditto the chip shops I’m sure.
Wonder how many of those scoffing away had washed their hands before eating, as I’m sure many surfaces had been touched by goodness knows how many. Or perhaps they had all diligently applied their hand sanitiser.
The hand washing message seems to have relaxed along with the other measures.

Aargh! What DON'T they get?
(176 Posts) Just listening to the News on Radio 4, Simone who had travelled an hour and a half to get to their favourite beach, complaining that there were too many people, and that they were not complying with social distancing guidelines

I saw that! Complaining about all these people. Doesn’t she realise she is one of these people!
I saw a clip on the news last night, a family who had driven 1 1/2 hrs to a beach telling the reporter they expected a spike in corona because everyone was going out and about now, I dont think they realised how hypocritical they came across.
I think some people just think lockdown doesnt apply to them, my neighbour, who is a midwife, went out last week and picked up her 5 year old granddaughter to stop over for 3 days, took her home on friday and picked her up again today.
I suspect I am not the only one who is totally fed up with whingers and moaners,,,,,get on with it ….enjoy what you can and wait for those things you ;can't live without; ????of course you can ….think if all your family lived abroad and you only saw them on Skype …...oh do stop moaning !
I agree Phoenix- No One seems to think it applies to them!- i just mentioned on another post that i rang my ex in laws last wk to enquire what date to send a birthday card for my ex hubby's sister- she DOES NOT live with them, but as we chatted ex MiL says "oh she's here now" and they let her in! Even though she'd just told me they were staying in 'to be safe' which i doubt my ex FiL has as he likes to get out & shop most days! I was so gob-smacked i couldn't say not to be doing that-then she rang off! It made me so angry!
Get on with what ALANaV-??? Spreading the virus around?? Making virus last longer?? Making it so it
NEVER goes away???

And do you realise you too are whinging& moaning also, about the whingers& moaners??
I heard chimes of ice cream van sunday first time for 2 mths- how does that work then? Standing 2metres away yet still being able to grab your ice cream cone?
and do pay with a card?
Unfortunately nannan2 the virus isn’t going to disappear, it is here to stay until a credible and effective vaccine is found and available to all.
Until that happens we have to live our lives, earn a living and educate our children. It is inconceivable that the world can effectively close down indefinitely
The local chip shop is the only 'take-away' ive trusted so far as the new owners have ALWAYS worn gloves, even before this virus, and as food is heated to 230 degrees id think its safe enough.
And until that happens there will still be people dying- including children..its inconceivable that they should make children return to schools yet just so they're 'babysat' by teachers under the guise of 'educating' them just so gov't can get the parents back to work, thus paying a lot less in furlough- oh another americanism- we've adopted a lot of US ideas lately.Thank God Obama is coming back in the running- at least they might get someone who speaks sense- and then Boris will listen to that sense instead!
I wish i had a battery cattle prod to give a little shock to remind those many STUPID people who disregard others in the supermarkets. Sometimes its like dodgems!!
I would probably get arrested but i wonder if it might be worth it!!?
If the virus is not stopped or a vaccine found the world WILL close down indefinitely- as everyone would die off!!
I have kept all the rules to now to protect us and others. However now the rules are illogical I can see why people are not keeping to them. Why can I sit/ sunbathe/ picnic in an open space all day socially distanced from complete strangers but not arrange to do the same with my daughter and grandchildren? Why is it suddenly ok to commute on crowded public transport, work indoors with others from numerous households but not met my daughter and grandchildren outdoors socially distanced ? We are supposed to be following the science- can’t imagine that the science says more risk doing that. In fact meeting the family socially distanced in the garden must be less risk than going and sitting on benches that countless others have sat on. Why is it less risk for me to wander around with all the day trippers now allowed to visit my tourist town than met my family in the open in a quiet place socially distanced?
Nannan2 the survival rate is many many times higher than the fatality rate for Covid-19. The population is not going to die out because of this virus.
More common sense and less hysteria is needed.
Callistemon- possibly they escaped in same way as No 6 in The Village?(old tv show from 1960's,filmed in Portmeirrion in wales)He tried everything Gawd love him!
Its only higher at moment than death rate as all countries have been on a certain amount of 'time out' in degrees of lock-down- if we are all allowed back into community all as normal, all at once all over the world-without a vaccine, what then?
Oh and again& again the "it must be safer with family all in my garden" crap!!! No its not or they would have included in the 'allowed' rules.! Im off as its just going to put up my blood pressure
What do you suggest? Nannan2 the world population is locked down indefinitely?
Who will produce the food you eat, who will transport it, who will clear your rubbish and generate the energy you need for heat and cooking?
A whole generation with no access to education, multiple mental health issues and suicides!
We have to carry on using social distancing wherever possible or masks when in confined spaces.
I put my trust in worldwide epidemiologists rather than armchair experts
Neighbours a few doors away from us had their nearest family all over at the weekend two separate families) including a newborn baby. They were there hours. Quite brazen about it too, they didn’t try and hide it. I honestly think they must think rules don’t apply to them.
As for herd immunity- or any type of immunity- because its a new virus, even scientists dont know how long anti-bodies last? Or indeed how long any vaccine they may produce will even last?? They may inject everyone only to find it wears off after a while? Same with anti- bodies if some have had it already- they just Dont Know!!!
Doodledog ....I have read your posts and agree with them all.Just so you know that somebody does!?
Nobody ‘owns’ their local beach/beauty spot, and as we can now travel any distance we like ( just not stay anywhere overnight) there is nothing to stop us going anywhere.
Common sense and government advice on social distancing should be observed once there.
GrannyGravy13 i think its you who thinks you're an armchair expert! I don't think whole world should be permanently locked down, but i DO think we should be doing it for quite a bit longer than we have been, all other counties seem to have aimed for 3mths- in complete lockdown- (and still deaths are rising again, now lock downs eased a bit) not the flimsy approach Boris took- and look what that got him? He was lucky he survived by all accounts! So why he's still being lax now I've no idea?? Why let folk travel as far as they want?? That's idiocy!
GG13 hear hear??
wide open spaces, beautiful open countryside, hills and beaches belong to all of us and anyone can use them if going there and back in a day. Good luck to the travellers, keeping social distance yes of course but what a lot of whingers and nimbyists . You do not own the countryside nor the view
