My next door neighbour decided it's okay to have a BBQ today with more than 8 people. Definitely not a meter apart. What is wrong with people it's far too early to lift lockdown.angry

They are obviously selfish uneducated peasants

Tickledpink Sun 31-May-20 12:32:10

Nannan2 we all have our health problems, and I can't afford to catch it either, but I refuse to concern myself with what other people are doing. It's none of my business. I know the virus is here to stay until a vaccine is found, until then I'll stay 'alert'.

Kate1949 Sun 31-May-20 12:27:38

When the government changed stay home to stay alert, one of our neighbours said that she was relieved as she could now kiss and cuddle her grandchildren when they came to her door. She has been doing so ever since.

Nannan2 Sun 31-May-20 12:23:40

Gma29, including some government ministers and advisors....angry

Nannan2 Sun 31-May-20 12:22:23

Maybe some people are feeling suicidal due to the virus, and the lockdown, and the loneliness, and losing their loved- ones to covid19? So yes, if they take this 'neighbour reporting' more seriously then there'll be LESS people getting virus/ spreading virus and then maybe LESS folk feeling suicidal?hmm.....

Gma29 Sun 31-May-20 12:16:29

So many stories on several threads of people flouting lockdown, (even from the beginning when the instructions were very clear) yet lots of posters seem to be saying it’s all the Government’s fault?

Not saying they haven’t got things wrong, but there’s a sizeable minority haven’t helped by just doing as they please.

Nannan2 Sun 31-May-20 12:15:20

Tickledpink- for some their immunity CAN'T be at its peak no matter what they do- due to medical reasons- and yes, it IS other peoples business what others are getting up to if its jepordising our health/and or risking the spread of this virus!!! angry

Nannan2 Sun 31-May-20 12:10:55

The Gov't are NOT following the scientists-as Van Tam and the other tall geek (don't know his name?) did NOT seem to agree that its safe to ease it,or have bbq's or toilet breaks....nor does Jenny Harries when she is on tv- she keeps repeating all the safety advice...

Tickledpink Sun 31-May-20 12:08:38

Oops, didn’t finish..
If your immune system is at it’s peak.

Tickledpink Sun 31-May-20 12:05:49

I am not concerned with what people do in their gardens or anywhere else, as long as I’m not affected. People should mind their own business. No way will I rub shoulders with anyone apart from my close family, but as they’ve been out working, I could still catch it. Eat well, it will help if

Nannan2 Sun 31-May-20 12:05:12

Maybe if Boris had kept his trap shut about bbq's & toilets& going through houses to get to garden etc it might at least have helped a bit!... now he's given the whole country carte blanche to do whatever they like basically!-he's trying out Dominic cummings idea of herd immunity now then?? Cause yes, so long as there is now enough hospital beds free it seems like they don't care if we have a second or third or even fourth surge of it!!??

TillyWhiz Sun 31-May-20 12:02:02

Myself and my shielding and self-isolating Whatsapp group have made the decision this morning we are staying put for the time being, no matter what restrictions are lifted. We feel much safer doing so and we support each other.

Nannan2 Sun 31-May-20 11:55:54

I agree Hellesbelles- if Boris said "go jump off a cliff tomorrow" would they do so? (but clearly some are already by what other posts are saying??shock And im so angry about neighbours burning plastic- it stinks but we are all told to recycle to save resources!!! I had my son burn some bank papers etc a few weeks ago, but in a proper incinerator, with a lid, but when he said its smoking too much i made him put it out with water.some folk dont care though.

paperbackbutterfly Sun 31-May-20 11:55:28

In my opinion, this is why the uk still has 100s die every day.

Calender37 Sun 31-May-20 11:50:46

Nanny100. What a beautiful and touching painting. Thank you for sharing it. The meaning in that picture can apply to all who lost family and loved ones, who are left with the added grief of not being able to comfort them or say goodbye.

SillyNanny321 Sun 31-May-20 11:46:40

From the start of Lockdown my neighbours have had BBQ's 3-4 days a week. Lots of people & children who used to visit them pre Lockdown & do not seem to think Lockdown applies to them. One day I thought I had a fire in my property till I found the smoke was from the BBQ that had been moved against the dividing fence. Lots of door & window slamming resulted in the BBQ being moved to the end of the garden. It still smokes & smells foul but not so much. If only they would clear the dog mess & disinfect where their dogs pee would be even better. Their guests & children do not seem to notice the smell. Strange people who will not get the virus. Those sheilding will!

DeeDum Sun 31-May-20 11:46:28

The trouble is the likes of these idiots are putting others lives at risk!!
And when Scientists and many medical professionals are concerned that lockdown has been ended much too soon, we need better and a more solid leadership that wouldn't encourage this behaviour opening beaches was the start of all this disregard of others lives, including the NHS staff that will once again be put at risk when we peak for the second time
Only our government could mess up like this.

Nannan2 Sun 31-May-20 11:45:05

Its started already- ive opened my bedroom window to let air in,was going to leave it open for the day but can smell smoke already- now have to close it and bedroom will be stifling by bedtime! So thoughtless these people! Its the chinese(!) neighbours- theyre burning bloody plastic that they should be recycling! We all have a big enough recycling wheelie bin.angryangry The nice young family on other side have a whole line of washing out poor beggars!

Hellsbelles Sun 31-May-20 11:32:42

Mow !

Janetashbolt Sun 31-May-20 11:32:39

I can't have my bedroom windows open because the 499 bus terminates just outside and three times an hour it sits there for up to 20 minutes making 80decibels of noise. I've complained to the council TFL and my husband even went to the bus garage, still sweltering in isolation in my bedroom

Hellsbelles Sun 31-May-20 11:32:13

What makes me confused is that we are told we can bbq so people all have one . We were told you can walk in your area , so people do , told you can sit in a park, yep people do it .
I wonder how many would do it if they were told now your grass in the nude ! I'm going to keep my curtains closed incase

whoisthis Sun 31-May-20 11:21:14

I don't see what is wrong with a barbecue, I am over 60 but I sill enjoy this, love sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and bq going, its the only enjoyment we have at the moment as can't go anywhere as all the facilities are closed.at least in your own garden you are safe.

inishowen Sun 31-May-20 11:13:26

You cant police your neighbours. Try reporting them and you wont get far. My son is a call handler for the police and all their time is taken up with these calls. There are real crimes happening and people threatening suicide. He is frankly fed up with people reporting neighbours.

Aepgirl Sun 31-May-20 11:09:47

Same old story it doesn’t apply to me. Pathetic.

MadCatWoman1 Sun 31-May-20 11:03:56

Some people enjoy BBQs, others don't - I'm not a fan - but as another poster here said, a lot of you are very judgmental about what other people do.

The people were in a garden. There were 8 of them, 2 more than the number "allowed" - so what? It's hardly a crowd. I think we all have to be responsible for our own actions and do what we see fit. I'm sticking to "the rules", but honestly, we're more at risk of getting the virus when we're in a shop or on public transport. Let's not all become hysterical.
