We need a prime minister who can grow a pair. One who can be honest and not scared to make a decision whether it is liked or not. All these months of mixed messages, U turns and unclear advice. Is it any wonder that people are doing what they want. Masks should be mandatory - end of. No excuses.
Two seeks ago was Bank holiday when all the beaches and pubs were crowded and now we have the rise in cases. No surprising really.

I am not surprised that restrictions were put in place but the onus has been put on families when it seems everything else is carrying on as usual.
This will probably mean some grandparents being excluded from visits to family.

Shield if you want to, go out if you want to. Each person live with the consequences of both actions. No countries' economy can afford for everyone to stay at home, if you think that, you are all being ridiculous. We all die sometime, it's a consequence of being born.

I was in town today and saw many large groups of older teenagers walking or standing close together. No masks.
These are youngsters who should be out finding friends, forming relationships and having fun.
Today's facts and figures show what this behaviour leads to.

Is anyone able to clarify something for me please? I understand that from the 14th September only six people can meet up that is outdoors as well as indoors I presume? Also could these six people be from different households? Or is it just from up to two households. Thank you in anticipation of some clarification.

Gwyneth, I think a max of 2 households. I know friends who tell me that we are taking it "too seriously" - "just relax", and they are 70+ like me! I think the rule about inside/outside was to make it easier and clearer for the police, but I'm just disappointed that our community choir will now not be re-starting next week (following all the safety rules). And my aunt is in lockdown in her residential home, no visitors for five months. Thank goodness she has found a bridge game on the internet to keep her sane!

Yes suziewoozie you are correct. 2 household rule has gone. 6 people inside or outside unless there are more than 6 in one household. So...... if there are 6 of you living together then no visitors. If you live alone you can have 5 other people inside your home from 5 different households. Cant see the logic in that myself

It's a virus we haven't seen before. No one knows how to deal with it. Boris can only make decisions on the advice he's given, in this case presumably by the scientists. I really can't understand the crazy negative criticism of him. He doesn't get up each morning thinking: I really want to p**s off everybody off today by trying to save lives.
Advice keeps changing because the situation keeps changing.

lulubelle do you really believe Johnson only makes decisions based on scientific advice? don’t make me laugh - he chooses to follow the command of Cummings and his cronies - political decisions. Example - opening pubs - political decision not scientific. Advice keeps changing because they aren’t on top of it - they are always two steps behind, they give important roles to their friends and relatives track n trace system anyone?

And why has the situation changed Lulubelle ? Because the world and his wife went on holiday, there were raves, get-togethers etc etc, when the damn virus was still hovering while many mugs like myself stayed put and obeyed the rules from March.
To feel peed-off by this is an understatement. People who ave done the right thing are penalised by those who haven't !

Will swimming pools still be open next week?
I go to an outdoor pool, bookings only, restricted numbers, but obviously more than six people.
