To want a tattoo

I'd love a tattoo but at the tender age of 73 I don't know if I'd be able to suit one. My son Sherman thinks it is an awful idea for me to get a tattoo but I can't help feeling like I'm missing out. What are your opinions on tattoos? Should I go for it?

EthelTheTank If you want a tattoo then go for it! I don't quite understand your comment - you feel you are missing out" though??? Personally I can't stand them especially on beautiful young women who have nice sleeveless dresses say white and then they have these ink marks down their backs, arms or whatever (makes me want to get a hanky and rub it off lol).

Each to their own though although never sure why people think it 'enhances' them nor why they feel they are missing out? Like EthelTheTank says? Am even more bemused with people who have them on lower backs who can never see them? What is that all about lol. Seems to make a kind of statement that I obviously do not 'get' So EthelTheTank go for it but seriously? Missing out? don't think so.

I am 63 have waist length grey hair, nose, ear and belly button piercings and 4 tattoos. It's about what you want - none else. Tattoos can be tastefully done, the only thing I would say is think carefully about the design (maybe ask the tattooist to do it in washable ink first to see how it looks) and really consider where to have it. Mine are all in places I can cover. I did have one removed which was lengthy and extremely painful!

My comment about missing out is mainly because my good friend has a big tattoo of a buffalo surrounded by flowers on her back. I think it looks really beautiful but I don't think I'd be brave enough to get a giant tattoo

Well, I think the person who first decides to take the plunge should put up a pic.
We could have a new forum "Blue rinse and inked". smile

”Blue rinse and inked" Love it!

Perhaps lemongrove could open a tattoo parlour round the back of The Argy........

Oh, that David Beckham is very photogenic, isn't he?

EthelTheTank Thu 08-Oct-20 17:36:48

Ooh I love a bit of Beckham

MissAdventure Thu 08-Oct-20 17:48:13

He is a fine specimen, I must say apart from the silly voice

Me too! Though you’re right about his voice, MissAdventure. Saw the video of him sleeping (an art installation by Sam Taylor-Wood) years ago - delicious!!

Danma Thu 08-Oct-20 18:17:40

This is mine. I designed it, it has a very special meaning for me and quite honestly I don’t care what anyone else thinks of it ?

Kryptonite Thu 08-Oct-20 18:19:09

Don't like them. The fact that they're permanent too. What if you regret it later ... ? They turn black over time and then don't look so good.

EthelTheTank Thu 08-Oct-20 18:24:10

Wow Danma it looks lovely

Noreen3 Thu 08-Oct-20 18:29:03

go for it,I wish I was brave enough

Lin663 Thu 08-Oct-20 18:43:53

I always find myself questioning the intelligence of anyone stupid enough to get a tattoo...especially when they are old enough to know better

MissAdventure Thu 08-Oct-20 18:45:19

Yes, I often find myself questioning people's intelligence, too. smile

Hithere Thu 08-Oct-20 18:46:13

Lin663

What an ignorant comment.

My tattoos did not stop me from going unuversity and grad school - I have enough intelligence left in me to have multiple degrees and great career

I love your wife's tattoo,*Spangler*! Are you a fan of 'What We Do in the Shadows'? I have my own familiar-my OH who follows me around like a zombie when he hasn't got anything else to do. He's not a helpful familiar, either!
Good luck*EthelTheTank*if you go ahead with it!smile
