How many of you will have it and how many won’t?

Personally I will be head of the queue!

BlueBelle Tue 10-Nov-20 17:31:31

Not holding my breathe to be honest
No I won’t be first in the queue I ll wait and see

Fuchsiarose Tue 10-Nov-20 17:39:12

It's a wait and see. Too be honest, if care home staff dont want it, does that mean a shortage of care home staff, as of, 31 December 2020. A relative of mine is willing to leave her job over it. It's definitely an unknown outcome.

Lucca Tue 10-Nov-20 17:48:17

Fuchsia what do you mean ? Have care home staff all said they don’t want it ?

Lucca Tue 10-Nov-20 17:48:52

There is another thread already about this by the way!

Fuchsiarose Tue 10-Nov-20 18:00:16

Lucca, I said, IF CARE HOME STAFF DONT WANT IT.

welbeck Tue 10-Nov-20 18:23:44

shouting doesn't make it any more comprehensible.

I'm under 65, but have COPD, might be quite a way down on the priority list.

Sallywally1 Tue 10-Nov-20 18:35:18

Sorry didn’t see the other thread!

I work in the NHS and if I see medical staff having it then so will I. (I am admin).

M0nica Tue 10-Nov-20 18:37:06

Well. on the list of priorities, our age group comes 3rd.

DH is one of those testing the Oxford vaccine, so there is a 50/50 chance he has had the vaccine already and I will have it the moment it is offered to me.

Daisymae Tue 10-Nov-20 19:01:23

Apparently side effects could be a similar to a severe hangover, headaches, aches in limbs. I wonder how the elderly who are to be be first in line will cope?

Tangerine Tue 10-Nov-20 19:36:19

I shan't be one of the first selected to have the vaccine but I think I shall want to be vaccinated.

M0nica Tue 10-Nov-20 19:50:38

I do not know whether DH got the COVID jab or the alternative as one of the Oxford Phase 3 volunteers but he did feel somewhat the way you describe Daisymae. He is 77, obese and has high blood pressure. He just took it easy for a day or two and then felt fine again.

Just because someone is elderly (definition?) doesn't mean we are doddery old has-beens. We are as capable of making decisions as people decades our juniors and can decide for ourselves.

I think most of us would rather have two days under the weather if it means protection from catching COVID.

Elegran Tue 10-Nov-20 20:25:43

I shall probably be in the second wave of vaccinations, as I am over 80, but I would rather have a few days of hangover, headaches, and achy limbs than weeks of breathless coughing, a metal tube into my lungs, catheters etc in all orifices, and possibly never be the same again for the rest of my life.

Lucca Tue 10-Nov-20 23:02:53

welbeck

shouting doesn't make it any more comprehensible.

Thank you !

maddyone Tue 10-Nov-20 23:41:22

I will have it if and when it’s offered. I’m 67 so it will be a bit of a wait.

OceanMama Wed 11-Nov-20 00:06:24

I won't have it until a few keener people have gone before me. I won't be high priority but I'd rather observe how it goes before committing.

Fuchsiarose Wed 11-Nov-20 07:24:15

Since when has uppercase been deemed as shouting. Cant remember learning that at school

Jane10 Wed 11-Nov-20 07:29:35

Fuchiarose life has moved on since you were at school. It is a long understood convention that typing in capitals is considered shouting.

Fuchsiarose Wed 11-Nov-20 07:32:47

Thanks Jane. I will try to become a new learner. P.s. how is it that you know when I went to school. Lol

Jane10 Wed 11-Nov-20 07:38:44

Posting on this forum is a clue

Lucca Wed 11-Nov-20 07:59:18

Fuchsiarose. I’ve read your post again. Do you mean will care home staff be sacked if they don’t want the vaccine ?

I think it’s unlikely that many will refuse it but I may be wrong.

I just don’t get all this anti vaccine stuff.

Fuchsiarose Wed 11-Nov-20 08:33:26

Well Lucca, I dont know ,tbh. I know when I worked for NHS it was expected that we had certain vaccinations. The Brexit at end of December may well mean less people around to employ for care homes. Its worrying that's for sure.

maydonoz Wed 11-Nov-20 08:45:05

Yes I will have the vaccine as and when it's offered, I'm in the 70 + age group so my guess it will be sometime in spring, all going according to plan.

maddyone Wed 11-Nov-20 13:24:40

I just don’t get all this anti vaccine stuff.

Neither do I, it’s baffling.
Mind you, I can easily be baffled.
