I think it is a great thing that there are younger contributors!
IP does not mention her age. Which makes it hard to answer her question !!

Am I being unresonable to ask if I'm too old for Mumsnet and too young for Gransnet?
I feel like neither represent my views, opinions or lifestyle.
I dont believe life has changed soo much, it used to be that people married young and were probably young grandparents but perhaps they were older in their lifestyle as it was a different age.
But there are now people having children later in life and therefore older grandparents (And opinions!)
As well as teen pregnancies which is in every generation and so therefore younger grandparents possibly.
So where do younger grandparents go or older mums, I dont feel represented anywhere.

I was a grandma by the time I was 45. My girlfriend was only 34. I was a great grandma at 62. I had very different interests at 45 and I was still working full time.
I like it here ,it is a lot more pleasant than some other forums I have been on. You quickly see the ones who you don’t want to deal with and avoid them. I have only come across a couple like that, though and I think I am not alone in my view of them.
What is interesting is how some think the “right wing “ dominates and others think the “left wing” do !
Clearly it’s a mix!
Some whose views are centrist have to take being dubbed either lefty or rightie......?♀️
Obviously there’s the odd “oldie “ thread...... moaning about not being called madam etc.
Of course there is always the option not to bother using this site or the other one.... just saying !
FannyCornforth My apologies, perhaps we should co-ordinate our posts and take it in turns to post where we think the same.
It does, however show how ungenerational GN is because I think you are among the younger GN members and at 77 I am heading to being among the older.
Another side of the divergence. nann8 was a great grandmother at an age when I wasn't even a grandmother. I wasn't a grandmother until I was nearly 64.

I gave up on that thread about shop assistants. They have an impossible job to please everyone.
I like both Gransnet and Mumsnet for different reasons. The familiarity of Gransnet is comfortable and in normal times the meet-ups are great fun, I’ve made real life friends.
Mumsnet can be a total hoot, so entertaining. I read all kinds of threads on there, the feminist boards are a mine of information.
I don’t suppose one forum will meet all of your needs all of the time OP, perhaps it’s best to dip in and out of a few.
I joined Gransnet when I first became a grandparent at 56, basically looking for advice. I've never used Mumsnet, as I'd always assumed it was for younger mums. I like Gransnet, but I only dip in and out of maybe 3 or 4 forum topics regularly, and I have absolutely no interest in getting involved in the political threads. I prefer to steer clear of political discussions, even in real life! I do think that there's a lot of helpful advice here, and some very nice people too, but there's always one or two who you don't see eye to eye with, but that's to be expected as we all have different views and opinions, which is what makes life interesting!
I can’t remember how I came to join, but I know it was a long time before I felt I had anything to say.
My first grandchild was born when I was forty five, my last at sixty four, when my first was born, my youngest child was nine, and a forum for grannies wouldn’t have been on my radar.
I do enjoy it now, I haven’t got a lot of spare time, so I tend to follow a couple of threads I find interesting, and ignore the rest.
The members are so diverse, but I wouldn’t say that’s an age thing.
I'm certain I don't belong on Mumsnet. They would make mincemeat of me.
Henetha
Same here!
M0nica, thank you, but you put my thoughts into words better than I do.
Baubles is right aswell, there is some hilarious stuff on MN.
My favourite ever thread was the one for ugly houseplants.

It's far nastier on here!
I’m on both. I’m 52 and a long way off being a gran as I have a ten year old.
Really FC ? I imagine it full of sharp tongued young clever yummy mummy's
I don't think I could cope with it, Sara1954.
Hi henetha, I don't find it anything like that. There is a very wide range of ages there and I don't really 'see' all the swearing that others mention.
It's so large that it's very impersonal.
You don't get to know anyone on there like you do here.
I honestly think that MN and GN are totally different in the way that posters communicate; rather than the difference being age- related.
Thank you FannyCornforth. Perhaps I should give it a go.
Before I found GN I joined MN, since dd was expecting her 2nd with only a 15 month gap, and I wanted experiences/advice - all v reassuring. I was 68 then.
I still use MN and am afraid to say that I find it far more interesting than GN - I can overlook the ‘colourful’ language. Of course there is the odd person who just enjoys having a safe anonymous go at other people, but you get those on almost any forum - inc. GN.
The same old political rantings do get a bit tedious, but I do like the food and craft threads, and anything with a spark of humour. The cartoon thread is ?!

There used to be some hilarious stuff on GN too but not lately.
I’m on both. Joined Mumsnet when it first started about 1999? Now feel it isn’t right for me. I am 54 this year, not yet a Gran.

nambypamby Have you read the political threads? Dominated by those well to the left of centre, in fact I would say the majority of those on GN were left of centre and, to be honest, I do not see much pearl clutching either.
I do see quite a lot of intolerance from people who cannot bear to mix with anyone who doesn't share there world view - that group are certainly not Dail Mail readers
Having spent most of my life on the opposite side of arguments to the majority, I find it quite revitalising.
I agree ??
I haven’t seen any far right or extreme right wing comments on GN for years , then it was only literally one or two.
Nor are there many extreme left wing views, again probably only a couple. Most fall into the right wing, centre right, centre left and left wing, and I don’t ‘feel umbrage’ as NambyPamby expresses it with them as they all have a right to express their political thoughts on forums.
I don’t like the derogatory use of the word boomers ( because it’s always used as an insult) as if we had any input into being born in the few years after the second world war ended. So if Mumsnet has a lot of these stupid comments then I wouldn’t bother with it. In point of fact I don’t look at Mumsnet more than a few times a year in any case.?
I’ve been on Mumsnet for ages. It moves really fast now, but it was easier to make friends for meet ups than I find in GN. Some of the subjects, which might have been important at the time aren’t important now, but I still find them entertaining. E.g.
snobbiest places in the UK.
That could be a really good idea for a thread Mollygo?
Snobbiest places
Best fish and chips
Best cafes /pubs
Worst places to park
Best/worst hotels etc etc.
Could prove useful to GN members.
Some good ideas for threads there, lemongrove.
Yes lemon grove, do it, they all look to be good topics. You go girl! Sometimes I have this awful urge to play devil’s advocate and pretend to be totally extreme , either right or left. Maybe I have an unfulfilled troll urge but it could be fun!
is a ‘trollS
