MayBee70 the lateral flow test gives you a pos or neg result, no posting, but you’re asked to record either result in the NHS Covid-19 app to give a view to the collators.

Lateral flow tests are very handy we are supposed to do them twice a week but they are not for people with Covid symptoms that needs a PCR at a test centre

Having read this thread I went online and ordered some of these tests. Couldn't have been easier. Thanks for posting.

No. You wait for, I think, 20 minutes and you’ll see the result on the widget-thing. It’s like a home pregnancy test(!).

I didn’t know they were so readily available. So what happens if you get a positive result? What do you do next (I’m being lazy, I should google it….I will….)….

MayBee if positive you need a PCR as lateral flows can give false results

I’m so out of touch. My DIL (NHS worker) was given lots of tests ages ago under strict instructions to just use them for herself, so I assumed that was still the case. It might give me more confidence about going out as concerned about passing the virus on as I am being infected.

I really didn't know how easy it was to get them. I heard people talking about them but just didn't know how to actually get them

I think it should get more publicity. That and the new symptoms.

You wait 30 minutes for the result.Whether the result is negative or positive it has to be reported to the NHS. Instructions and the link are given in the booklet enclosed with the tests. If you follow them you can't go wrong . And the box contains all the material for 7 tests. Oh and you can report on a laptop, i-pad, or phone.

It’s a trial event so the whole pint of it is to let people take a few risks and see what happens. I don’t understand why you’re getting so upset about it. The trial events are a step towards relaxing all the restrictions, some people just love to moan…

It’s ok people being at these events. It’s the people that travel down untested and hang about outside the events that are the problem.

Maybee they all had to be either vaccinated or do a lateral flow test up to 48 hrs before which in turn had to be reported on the Covid app and a text had to have been received acknowledging the negative test
We are opening up in a couple of weeks ways have to be found to do this as safety as possible

That was the people officially at the events I believe. Not the Scotland fans that travelled down without tickets for the game.

I was talking about last week rosie. Are you just devoting your life to tripping me up at the moment or something….I was talking about trial events in general by the way. And I did say I wasn’t against the events taking place within a framework of it being ticket only and people being tested.

For what it’s worth the reason I’ve been asking about the tests is that DH has just spent the day in hospital being scanned for a blood clot in his leg. And even though we don’t mix with people I want to be sure that, if we do come into contact with someone over the next week or so, he hasn’t picked up the virus in hospital and we don’t want to pass it on to them….and I did tentatively mention to my daughter that we might meet up in a few weeks only to be told that my grandsons friend has tested positive so it’s best that we don’t.

Sorry to hear that Maybee I hope your husband makes a speedy recovery.

I’ll wear masks for as long as I feel I need to. I don’t want to be near unmasked people out of doors or in shops. I am trying to find my ‘new normal’ by gradually using local buses, visiting friends and going in shops.

2000 new Covid cases in Scotland. Most of the cases were people who travelled to London for Scotland's game with England on 18 June, Public Health Scotland said

Almost 1,300 people in Scotland tested positive for coronavirus after travelling to London to watch a Euro 2020 match, Public Health Scotland (PHS) has confirmed
Roughly 400 of these fans were at Wembley to see the England vs Scotland game on 18 June, while the others watched it from elsewhere in London

While 1300 is more than bad enough , there no need to exaggerate the figures.
Interesting that those who went to Wembley are not in the majority
