Children under 18 to be vaccinated !! Horrors !! Why !! Even scientists agree that not nearly enough is known about long term effects of this new vaccination to risk giving it to anyone of child bearing years - who want to risk their futures - I don't !!

Wembley this evening, no more masks for me..
(228 Posts)45,000 footballs fans in Wembley stadium this evening shouting, hugging and cheering.
Some shirtless, all maskless.
I have been dutifully wearing a mask, I’ve nearly frozen having windows and doors open whilst having work people in the home, buried my mother with only a handful of mourners present and my son and fiancé have postponed their wedding until next year.
No more mask for me, they are all going in the bin.
I'm with you Sago fully complied until I saw all the leaders at the G7 summit without masks congregating round a bar ( which we're not allowed to do ) shaking hands and hugging, plus has you say all the football fans and footballers all hugging, everyone who has amore than a few quid not wearing a mask or social distancing at Ascot and to top it off the peson who should know how "deadly" the disease (health secretary ) with it toungue rammed down (not his wife's) throat, so I have the impression it's no more dangerous that flu, it people in power who know about the disease and multi millionaires don't follow the rule what's that tell you, my mask is safely staying off where ever I go but to those who are still under the delusion you need it even though it's fully obvious you don't by higher peoples actions I will stay my 2 metres distance.
This may be a communication problem with blogs & online posts as there is no way to hear how the comment was made but this comes across as "toys out of the pram"
Its clearly up to you but a considered opinion would be better than "they aren't so I won't" We are meant to be mature ladies on Gransnet in both senses of the word.
Unfortunately cases seem to be on the rise. My DD works in a school as of today 18 pupils aged 10 to 11 year 6 in Primary have all tested positive. Its a village church school where most people are compliant. There was a confirmed case in the class and at that point most parents and children got tested. DD and SIL both tested positive this morning. I do think we still need to be careful. Both are double vaccinated but SIL feels quite poorly and he's a fit 33yr old I do urge caution I for one will be staying masked up for the foreseeable.
I lost a young friend (only early forties) to covid. I see his family when I walk my Dog, it breaks my heart not seeing my friend out with them, but they wear their masks, in hope that it will help even just one person that they might pass this horrible illness onto that might not deal with it as well as them.
You do as you wish. But I am proud of my family for wearing their masks and doing so happily. One of my other friends is a paramedic with only one lung, asthma and still manages to work all day in and out of a hot hospital wearing his mask and he told me he has no problems with his breathing...he's mid sixties!
I think some people moan for the sake of moaning...but thats my take on it. x

I absolutely agree with you, the Government is taking the people who are graciously complying with their mandates, for fools.
I have never worn a mask and never will do. There is a total disregard for the 'common people' from the 'elite'. It's do as I say, not as I do. I have never been challenged for not wearing a mask, they are harbingers of germs, and you are effectively breathing back your own stale air, which is HUGELY detrimental to your lungs. They are useless. As mature Grandparents, surely we all know the benefits of fresh air over anything else. Does anyone really believe that a mask has stopped people getting flu ( no reported deaths or cases this year), but people are still getting Covid. What a ridiculous notion. The mask can tell the difference between a flu virus and a Covid virus.
And can I just add, that anyone who does not wear a mask, or who has chosen not to have a jab, will also be the last people to have a PCR test, therefore, the only people contributing to Covid 'numbers/cases' will be mask wearers and/or those who have had a jab. I am not a tin foil hat wearer, or conspiracy theorist, I'm just a sensible mature woman, who has done her research. For goodness sake bin your masks, breathe in the lovely summer air, boost your immune system with Vit C, and D, Magnesium, and Zinc, and eat a healthy diet. That's all you need to do.
I wish we had the kids vaccines here already. And no i won't be casting aside masks even if we are told to, except maybe with family who i know are safe (via vaccines/lateral flow tests) my adult youngest sons wear two masks& gloves still despite both jabs. They have medical problems. Its not just about us, is it? Its about protecting others still.
A lot of money in football and a lot of pressure to get the sheep back into the stadiums. If you are older than about 12 you should know the rules only apply to the poor as usual. The best thing is when one of the players has tested positive for covid 19 (not sure why they still call it this, we must have covid 21 by now) and only they have to isolate, I laughed so hard when I heard this I nearly pee'd myself.
Totally agree Schools have cancelled sports days or banned families going to them.
It’s all down to money , business people don’t need to isolate or even take a test to fly .
At Weddings people aren’t allowed to sing or dance even outside
It's not so much those inside a stadium or venue its the ones outside and parting like no tomorrow that are the real problem. No testing, no track and trace and travelling on public transport, no wonder the figures have gone up.
That is entirely your choice, but the masks are primarily for others protection not your own, so I’ll continue to follow guidance.
Sincere condolences on your loss, never easy to lose a loved ones especially when you cannot say a proper goodbye or give them a good send off xx
If 'that's all you need to do' why have still so many folk caught covid, and are still doing so?despite taking vitamins &'fresh air' folk are still catching it, passing it, and yes, dying from it??
Look at the daily figures, here (south coast) 3 weeks ago there were truly hardly any cases, and now its back up to every area has some and some have a lot. (Yes BECAUSE of the fun dammit). Anyway, I still don't want to be ill, so in crowded places its on with the mask. And when I can I'm avoiding those friends who I know are 'mixers'.
Obviously it’s up to each individual. If you are happy to break rules and put yourself and others at risk then you crack on. I am definitely not a sheep, but I do know that given the choice between safety and danger I will always choose safety. I also intend to continue to wear a mask indoors in public places after Boris’s announcement on 19 July. I am fully vaccinated and will also have the one in September when it’s offered to me. I am not saying that I am right and you are wrong, I am simply saying that I am doing the right thing for me.
My daughter is a primary school teacher, sent home today as child in her bubble has COVID I have no children under 18 but would happily have them vaccinated.
It’s a misnomer and misinformation that the vaccines are not properly or fully tested, they were already partially developed for SARS and they’ve had more resource, scientists and money thrown at them than any other vaccine in existence. Trust the science ! Many many people in the medical profession here in the UK volunteered to test this vaccine.
You are more likely to develop a blood clot from smoking, long haul flight or the contraceptive pill which have all been around for years and we are all well aware of the long time dangers of smoking and alcohol yet we continue to use them
Masks don’t work.
They are no more than compliance signifiers.
If you can breathe through them, a virus can get through.
Take them off and get some air into your lungs.
Oh and stop giving filthy looks to those who can’t wear them.
Just because they are stupid enough to put there life's at risk , are you . What was the saying my mother used to say , if they stuck there head in a gas oven , would you ?
Sago has abided by the rules, that is her point. She is now fed up with wearing masks when so many are not at these trialled events and the G7 summit. As for masks, the debate continues. If they are not worn correctly i.e. very close fitting, their efficacy is debatable and so many people do not, or touch their faces even more than without.
As for the rising number of cases, surely it's time to look and hospitalisations and deaths rather than just the number of infections.
I am in complete agreement with the OP, because of the differing and contradictory rules. I do not wear a mask in the outside parts of garden centres the same as another poster, and keep away from others while I'm doing so, so packed outdoors sporting events where no masks are required makes me seeth. Very annoyed to have to keep wearing them in this current very warm weather inside of retail premises but still doing so, to the benefit of my bank balance and the detriment of local shops as can't stand the horrible things for long indoors and in heat, so no browsing or spending. Repeated and recent reports have always said that only medical grade masks are very effective in preventing transmission of covid, so all the cheap rubbish masks from China, and all the fabric homemade masks are doing little to help, but for the majority of the population is the only option we have to comply with legal requirements, waste of money that they are. My husband is awaiting surgery soon within this month so I am keeping on with them for now, and keeping my distance from other people, including family, albeit the limited effectiveness of non- medical masks, so as to not jeopardise his admission date but post his op and 19 July, whichever is the later date, they're all going in the bin, or maybe a ceremonial celebratory Bonfire in the garden, and good riddance to them.

Who says they don’t work ?? Proof ?
look AT hospitalisations. Why can't we edit our comments!!
I've my two jabs and still wearing a mask and will be for a long time. Our local news said last night about a Covid ripple, not wave, maybe in August as our positive cases are the same as in Feb.
You have to protect yourself and your family not copy idiots who get themselves infected. In Australia they reckon it only takes 5 seconds to catch Delta from someone you’ve just passed in the street so even having had the vaccination I’m keeping my mask and staying away from crowded places.
I'm still wearing a mask indoors but as I rarely go out this doesn't amount to much. Even though double jabbed there is still a risk and we don't know yet how long the jab lasts. I would love to go out and enjoy the area this summer (I live in a prime holiday destination) but not all obeying the rules so for yet another summer I have to watch from the window as visitors flock by.
And as for masks not working, of course they don’t stop you breathing but 2/3 layers in each person will definitely lessen the risk plus I now wear a medical grade one which the EU recommend.
