Ones you really, really don want.

I don’t want to take two parcels to the local Hermes drop off. Rude staff there
Need to clear the garden a bit. It’s cold and I don’t like gardening which is why I have pots
Doing dinner for later
General vac round but don’t mind that so much!

All trivial I know,
Any one else?

Not sire if it counts as a chore, but , having spent 3 hours yesterday comparing quotes for car insurance, eventually making up my mind, then not being able to contact the chosen firm because they were having " technical difficulties", I need to start again today. Why do these comparison sites have such similar names? "Go compare, Compare the market, Confused.com "
If those are their names, mine is Confused.co.uk!!

PS In the middle of this, I came across a recommendation for NFU which does not appear on Comparison sites, but had a good report from ^ Which ^ apparently. Discovered I couldn't get a quote online - had to phone. A rough average of cost of my car insurance quotes is mid £300s. NFU quoted over £1000 !!!!!

I don't feel like doing anything today, least of all taking kitchen cupboard doors back to Ikea. It's been an awful couple of weeks where I have lost my dog and the stepfather I adored as a child. Today, I'd like to crawl back to bed and pretend the world isn't happening but I can't.

flowers so sorry for your losses and yes it’s hard to believe the world goes on, I think we all get that.

Cleaning out the bird bath.
Lovely to see the flocks of starlings coming for a bath, so guess I'd better just get on with it!

I dont want to get in the loft and put the stuff in the central heating system, but if I dont the pipes will get even worse than they are.

I need to empty my shredder and no matter how I attempt it I always end up with some of it all over the floor. I hate it.
Interestingly, no one in my family ever needs to use it once it is full but as soon as I empty it their shredding all starts to happen and its full again.

go on the Hermes site and search for drop of points. Near to me are two petrol stations and two convenience stores, along with lockers that you can just put your items in once you have arranged it on line.! Much easier and done when you want to do it.

I use Hermes collection - it's brilliant! I also use the Royal Mail collection service - I gave up on visiting Post Offices about a year ago - I know - nothing to brag about but with covid, unreliable opening hours, difficulty parking and huge queues I packed it in.

Tidying the garden. I haven’t walked around my horrible garden for months.

I need to hoover upstairs, especially our bedroom carpet. There's something odd about the carpet. The hoover does not lift anything off it. I end up picking fluff off and feeding it into the nozzle.

Sweeping or hoovering the stairs.

Having recently downsized (well 2 years really) I didn't realise how many shoes and bags I had until I can't find anywhere to put them, so today I told myself that when hubby was out on his walk I was going to have to sort them out and take loads to the charity shop.
Oh what a bit of luck here comes my daughter for a cuppa and a chat, saved for another day.?

jocork - freezers here too - is it a little late to begin now tho?

Hermes Collect let me down time after time! They were supposed to collect yesterday - I thought they had improved - but no, and it's impossible to speak to a real person. Don't use Hermes!

I really need to start tidying the garden. There’s a lot of moss littered about from where the birds have pecked it off the roof and a lot of weeding to do. I’m not cutting back last years dead growth as it’s still shelter for the insects ? and besides I’d much rather finish a watercolour I’m working on.

Never do today what you can put off till tomorrow

sazz1 Tue 01-Feb-22 12:42:36

Cleaning the shower is my least favourite job. Going to tackle it today as I now have a karcher water vac so no wiping down.
Also hate dusting that will wait until tomorrow

I never want to do any chores any day!

How I sympathise! I was brought up in “the colonies” and we had servants to do everything…
Dusting and tidying up give me palpitations and remind me of my mother. My father used to blowup for nothing, shout at my mum who was forbidden to cry. As for shouting back, hmmm. So she’d vent her frustration by tidying up. Not a nice memory at all.

The oven door is on the kitchen table (took it off, then took it apart) - all clean and shiny - just have to clean the oven now (ongoing) - maybe tomorrow?

jocork Tue 01-Feb-22 12:12:13

I need to defrost my freezer - actually both of them - but one more urgent than the other. I hate that job, especially in winter. I was hoping it would last until the warmer weather but sadly no. The light is on showing it is no-longer cold enough despite being on continuously. Everything is frsty and the door barely shuts. Oh dear!!

You can arrange a pick up from Hermes.. that might solve the issue of having to deal with rude staff. Just avoid them altogether

I have a large mountain or ironing to do but I'm sitting in the hairdressers reading gransnet and thinking of excuses not to tackle the mountain when i get home.

Tizliz Tue 01-Feb-22 11:56:54

Need to do my vat. I have to go digital next quarter so this one is a trial run. Watched loads of videos which are mind numbingly boring and still not confident. HMRC are a pain making small businesses do this, I have much better things to do with my time - like reading Gransnet!

Growing0ldDisgracefully Tue 01-Feb-22 11:56:40

Can I be in your club please Shysal?
Chores = visited on us by the devil.
