Ones you really, really don want.

I don’t want to take two parcels to the local Hermes drop off. Rude staff there
Need to clear the garden a bit. It’s cold and I don’t like gardening which is why I have pots
Doing dinner for later
General vac round but don’t mind that so much!

All trivial I know,
Any one else?

Hermes Collect let me down time after time! They were supposed to collect yesterday - I thought they had improved - but no, and it's impossible to speak to a real person. Don't use Hermes!

jocork - freezers here too - is it a little late to begin now tho?

Having recently downsized (well 2 years really) I didn't realise how many shoes and bags I had until I can't find anywhere to put them, so today I told myself that when hubby was out on his walk I was going to have to sort them out and take loads to the charity shop.
Oh what a bit of luck here comes my daughter for a cuppa and a chat, saved for another day.?

Sweeping or hoovering the stairs.

inishowen Tue 01-Feb-22 13:18:37

I need to hoover upstairs, especially our bedroom carpet. There's something odd about the carpet. The hoover does not lift anything off it. I end up picking fluff off and feeding it into the nozzle.

Tidying the garden. I haven’t walked around my horrible garden for months.

I use Hermes collection - it's brilliant! I also use the Royal Mail collection service - I gave up on visiting Post Offices about a year ago - I know - nothing to brag about but with covid, unreliable opening hours, difficulty parking and huge queues I packed it in.

Rumpunch Tue 01-Feb-22 13:23:19

go on the Hermes site and search for drop of points. Near to me are two petrol stations and two convenience stores, along with lockers that you can just put your items in once you have arranged it on line.! Much easier and done when you want to do it.

I need to empty my shredder and no matter how I attempt it I always end up with some of it all over the floor. I hate it.
Interestingly, no one in my family ever needs to use it once it is full but as soon as I empty it their shredding all starts to happen and its full again.

I dont want to get in the loft and put the stuff in the central heating system, but if I dont the pipes will get even worse than they are.

Cleaning out the bird bath.
Lovely to see the flocks of starlings coming for a bath, so guess I'd better just get on with it!

I don't feel like doing anything today, least of all taking kitchen cupboard doors back to Ikea. It's been an awful couple of weeks where I have lost my dog and the stepfather I adored as a child. Today, I'd like to crawl back to bed and pretend the world isn't happening but I can't.

flowers so sorry for your losses and yes it’s hard to believe the world goes on, I think we all get that.

Not sire if it counts as a chore, but , having spent 3 hours yesterday comparing quotes for car insurance, eventually making up my mind, then not being able to contact the chosen firm because they were having " technical difficulties", I need to start again today. Why do these comparison sites have such similar names? "Go compare, Compare the market, Confused.com "
If those are their names, mine is Confused.co.uk!!

PS In the middle of this, I came across a recommendation for NFU which does not appear on Comparison sites, but had a good report from ^ Which ^ apparently. Discovered I couldn't get a quote online - had to phone. A rough average of cost of my car insurance quotes is mid £300s. NFU quoted over £1000 !!!!!

The high winds have kindly (?!) piled the leaves up in one area of my garden. However, it is so cold and windy that I can't find what it takes to go out and do the needful. YET.........

DH and I were delighted to get a small German pension each, from when we worked there nearly 50 years ago.

Not so delighted now, when I’m looking at various virtually incomprehensible forms to complete from HMRC and the German authorities. It was bad enough ploughing through the 30 page letter in German that accompanied the good news. My brain hurts.

Actually, I think the bathroom could do with a good clean. grin

There is a knack for putting on duvet covers. It involves laundering the cover inside out and then reaching inside to the distant corners and grabbing the relevant corners of the duvet and pulling it thru. Doing this over a banister helps too. Former chambermaid here!

There are lots of chores I need to do today ... but we're in the middle of having a new kitchen installed, and I can't go in there!

Our living room, hall and front room are stuffed with food, plates, clutter from the kitchen, and everything is covered in dust. And yesterday we had no electric.

I'm sat in the middle of it all, and our dog has enjoyed two walks today already. He might be getting a third!

Hate cleaning the shower, don’t mind other jobs

Bijou Tue 01-Feb-22 16:20:16

I wish I could do my chores and especially the gardening. I hate having to sit and watch other people do it.

nipsmum Tue 01-Feb-22 16:37:38

I never want to do cleaning anytime. Sometimes I make the effort but certainly not every day. I would rather bake cook walk the dogs or knit. Housework is the most soul destroying thing I can think off. I hate routine .

I used to use the 'over the banisters' trick for this too - but now we have moved to a bungalow!

Cleaning the wooden venetian blinds in 5 rooms.

Why don’t you use the Hermes collect service? Not a lot extra and saves you driving/parking/rude staff etc. I just leave my things tucked in by the side of my door and the courier always takes them on the day I have booked.

they don't offer the service everywhere or for certain things, I'm not sure why. We have had quite a few returns we have had to go to a collection point for

I live on a narrow boat and once a week I have to empty the toilet cassette (it is a box under the toilet pan). Tuesday is usually when I do it. I have to put it on my wagon and pull the ten minute walk to my car to take to disposal point. Contents are then poured into disposal point. I then rinse well and disinfect. I have to do it...can't be left...hahaha

Madashell Tue 01-Feb-22 18:10:46

This chore has been hanging over me like a carrion crow for months - since moving house we haven’t been able to fully unpack, there are stacks of boxes and bin liners in various rooms, which get moved as we do the decorating, so now I have no idea what is where. I now have duplicates of so many things I don’t know what to do with them, so they’re shoved into a cupboard until another day. This morning I found 4 bottles of white vinegar (used to make my own cleaning fluid), I don’t do that much cleaning. I can understand those folk who end up totally surrounded by junk, there comes a point when you don’t know where to start.
