To think that Kurt Zouma should be banned from keeping animals after abusing his cat?

Just seen on the news that David Moyes says that Zouma is available to be picked to play this weekend. It would appear that provided he can score goals for West Ham, the fact that he has been practising on his pet cat doesn't matter. I always thought David Moyes was a decent bloke. I was obviously wrong.

Oh yes. Prosecute him at once. Animal cruelty is simply unacceptable. angry

Totally agree with MissAdventure. Disgusting human being. Life long ban definitely.

There are currently two petitions for this event, one for rspca prosecution, one for West ham to sack him. I've signed both.
Personally as a nan of one teenager who is football bad, I personally think West ham should sack him, preferably using legal systems to ensure he has no financial recompense whatsoever. Hopefully his football career, at whatever level is over soon.

France have recently passed a law where the likes of Kurt Zouma, being a French national, could receive a 5 year prison sentence for animal cruelty, although the crime wasn't committed in France. Otherwise if he gets away with it what message does that give to young lads like your GS?

I think anyone treating an animal badly should be prosecuted, and banned from keeping pets again.
Whether that is through neglect, or outright cruelty.

It really is time this sort of behaviour was taken seriously.

I also think social services should be investigating exactly what kind of home his children are being bought up in.

He’s obviously not right in the head for so many reasons

Was he sorry he did it, or just sorry he got caught? He obviously meant to do it. He had set up his brother to film it and he was actually laughing at the time. And his small son was watching. Just what sort of man does that?? Anyone who hasn't seen it should watch it, just to see how horrific it was. The police have no excuse to not prosecute him. Footballers are looked up to and revered by many small boys. They must learn that no one should ever behave like this.

Animal cruelty in my mind is one step away from Child cruelty.
1. What goes through anyone’s mind to deliberately do such a thing?
2. What message is the young child getting from this?
3. What possessed anyone to film this and post it online - obviously preplanned?

Yes he deserves to be prosecuted and banned from animal keeping for a period of time. He is “Role model”.

Deejaysmum, what you say about the RSPCA doesn’t surprise me at all. My friend had a knock on the door - literally - because a mad old lady down the road turned her in for ‘mistreating’ her much-loved cat. Letting it out of the house, in fact. They really gave her a grilling and it was only when they found out that she was a veterinary nurse that they backed off! I meanwhile rang them about some very neglected ponies in a field and they wouldn’t even turn up. Intimidated by the type of owners, I suspect.

I don't think he should be allowed to keep animals of any sort ever again, otherwise what message does that send to others? West Ham have been woeful in their handling of this matter. David Moyes, their manager, decided to play Zouma in their mid-week match saying he was an important part of the team. To me that says football comes above everything else, which it most certainly should not and I am a football fan.

Yes, I'd really like to see him prosecuted and banned for what he did. I believe his cats have been taken from him - good and hope they find kind new homes.

I think anyone that did what he did should be prosecuted. He is a high profile Footballer and should be leading by example, of which that is not.

Just that really.

I know someone who used to be a (hobby) cat breeder and had trouble with local kids who poisoned/killed a couple of their cats.

They involved the rspca who, because they couldn't 'prove exactly' which youth had done it, prosecuted them for not keeping their cats safe (despite them being on their property, in a locked pen and behind 2 locked gates).

The rspca seized this person's cats, went to court 9 months later, asked the court to make the breeder pay boarding fees for 14 cats for 9 months and to give them a ban. Fortunately the boarding fees weren't upheld but a fine and a ban for 5yrs was imposed.

This was a respectable breeder who followed all legislation and GCCF (cat version of Kennel Club) rules and did absolutely nothing wrong.

When I look at the abuse that Zouma committed, then compare it with this breeder, imo he deserves, at the very least, the same punishment handed down to the breeder.

The fact that he is a famous footballer should not mean that he or his pets should be treated any differently to the rest of us. His pets deserve to be treated with respect (the same as yours and mine) and he deserves to be punished in exactly the same way as anyone else would be.

Thoughts..
