Where to buy quality underwear?

I recently bought 2 multi packs of knickers from a well-known store, in a style and size I've worn for years.
They didn't seem to fit right. Theres not enough material in the back and way too much stretchy material in the front.
I've compared them with my older pairs (5 years old and more) and there is now definitely more material in the crotch area! (almost a pouchy effect on some of the pairs, a bit like men's underpants confused)

I went online to read some of the reviews and there are male people raving about these knickers, saying that "there's enough room for men to wear them" basically they can fit their their male bits in them.

Aibu for being shocked that even women's underwear is now under attack?
So now we have to wear saggy, pouchy underwear, just because transwomen might get upset if there isn't enough room for them to fit their junk in?
(most transwomen these days don't have bottom surgery and choose to keep their male penises and testicles). I'm not sure if many Gransnetters are aware of that)

Aibu to think there should be a separate section for transwomens underwear?
Manufacturersshould not be changing and messing around with women's underware and shoving extra material into areas that have no need of extra material.
Why do women always have to budge up to accommodate others?
I'm prepared to be told to shut up and #bekind.
Which is what usually happens.

Oh and I would have put this in Feminism if we had such a section.

Apropos of an earlier post, I once bought a 3 pack of tights in a local discount store. When I opened the pack I found that every pair had just one leg.

I ordered 2x packs of M&S full brief sumptuously soft , very pretty and lacy , but the gusset was about an inch wide. , I couldn’t see myself feeling comfy in those so I have sent them back ,,the rest of the gusset was a lace frill !
They seem to have stopped making the usual no VPL packs that were very nice with a nice lacy waistband. I will have to go elsewhere in future for the hunt for comfy but pretty full knickers.

Not on gussets but on fabric. I bought a packet of Sloggis online, it was the first time and will be the last.
I like the type of Sloggi that is made with 96% cotton, however not being able to feel, like I do in a shop, I bought an expensive pack not looking carefully at the details, sloggi is sloggi to me never changing, however what I ordered was in polyester. I was so disappointed. I do wear them at a push but I don’t if I have a choice.

I have seen many reviews about women’s knickers on the M&S website written by men, extolling their virtues.
The lacy ones in particular.
It’s been highlighted elsewhere.
It is definitely a thing.

Strangely enough they never seem to buy sensible granny style pants in boring beige.
They don't seem to realise that there's more to being a woman than swanning around in fancy underwear.
Theres definitely a fetish element to it.

snowberryZ Sat 19-Feb-22 13:36:30

love these, so silky and smooth more than enough room for male wearers. Love the lace more colours please red / pink. wife thinks they are great

This is the type of review. And its one of many.

Even 'he' says there's more than enough room.
Quite a few styles also have a Y-front underpants style to them.

Anyway, I know what I think.

Well Done Aveline on your successful haulwink

Well done Agent Aveline!

Aveline Sat 19-Feb-22 12:29:01

Well I'm back. M&S mission accomplished. It was hard to check in detail as the packs of three or five were all sealed. Some had been opened and rummaged through! Other pants scrutineers at work obviously.
Conclusions: I couldnt see any particular problems as to style or shape. The gussets were fine in every respect. I was a bit put off by the thought of recycled polyester ones but I did find nice cotton ones. They may not last as long as Sloggis but, at the price they were, it'll be fine to buy more in a few years.
Over and out.

^Not exactly made for women are they?^

What a very strange observation (or obsession?)

It's a bit difficult to ignore when the lingerie review sections of a lot of major stores now have loads of men posting saying that women's pants fit them perfectly.

I think it strange to be a woman and NOT be concerned. confused

Aveline

I have decided to go pants shopping today. Armed with all the info from this thread I'll be highly critical and will scrutinise all pants in detail. I'll probably be thrown out!

Not really. Surely comfort is paramount?
It's a health thing as well.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 19-Feb-22 11:15:50

I shall await Aveline's report on the success or otherwise of her shopping expedition with interest. Meanwhile I shall continue with my faithful Sloggis.

One last word on this 'very strange thread' or are we oldies only allowed to discuss jam and Jerusalem

Every single pair of pants I've ever bought (even sexy ones) have that little envelope bit in the gusset . It's a double bit of soft material?
In other words, pants made for women need to have that extra bit of material, because if you're a woman, the last thing you want is scratchy, lacy material irritating the old undercarriage!
Anyway, these pants are missing that bit altogether.
Now why is that?
Not exactly made for women are they?

This is a very strange thread.

M0nica Wed 16-Feb-22 08:27:40

Sorry lemsip. it was posted immediately after I had posted, so I wasn't sure.

When this thread started I thought it was a have on, then I began to think it was real but the OP had got overwrought about a trivial issue.

I am now swinging back to my original feeling that this is a have on.

Summerlove Wed 16-Feb-22 01:48:21

Atqui

I don’t see why the OP should go elsewhere to buy her favourite knickers , and I don’t agree that there is lots of choice unless you like low cut ones. They all vary in comfort and fit and when you find some you like it’s annoying when the makers change the shape.Don’t trans women need a gap for speedy access as in men’s pants?couldn’t the makers feminise some male underwear instead?

Why buy others? Because the ones she liked no longer exist. The brand changed them.

This has happened to me for years with different brands. Nothing to do with TW in my case, just different styles.

So what did I do? Switched brands. Similar to when my favourite jeans stop being made

I buy Sloggi pants. They cost more but last for ever, literally years, so work out cheaper in the long run. Very comfortable.

I have two pairs of Sloggies about 30 years old. They have a panel across the front, a little like a mild version of a girdle, and I wear them twice a year when I get an implant which is taped together instead of stitched, just for the added pressure. After 30 years they still look like new. Sloggies are certainly worth the money.

JaneJudge Tue 15-Feb-22 22:22:33

I thought I'd put them on back to front aswell

Coastpath Tue 15-Feb-22 22:20:33

I replied to this thread earlier on having thought it was one of those half term jobs along the lines of 'I'm 126 and like to go wear a leather pencil skirt and fishnet tights when I go clubbing. AIBU?'

I was wrong. Sorry OP.

Callistemon21 Tue 15-Feb-22 22:18:25

I'm surprised it's been taken so seriously!

Lucca Tue 15-Feb-22 22:12:54

Just looked at the title of this thread and thought it was one if the funniest I’ve seen in a while!

lemsip Tue 15-Feb-22 22:07:22

M0nica

Lemsip was that aimed at me? I checked M&S and a three pack of pants is about £14. £140 will buy 10 packs. As I understand the OP she must have bought about 15 packs.

I would have thought if the problems she is complaining of is so evident, she wouldn't need to even try them on, just take one out of the pack and look at it. As for constantly buying the same thing again and again and not being prepared to exchange them. I do trust she did at least donate the pairs she hadn't worn to a charity shop.

Of course it wasn't for goodness sake!! I was responding to the OP. which is what it is all about,,the original OP not reponders!

Jannabell Tue 15-Feb-22 22:03:48

Shop elsewhere!!

Pepper59 Tue 15-Feb-22 21:43:28

Is this for real? There are a thousand places online and various supermarkets that supply underwear.
