One of my granddaughters, who is in her early twenties has just had a letter rom the NHS inviting her to go for a cervical smear test ''because she was assigned female at birth''
AIBU to suggest this is PC going too far?

The level of childishness from the GC on here is something to behold. Really.

As we're frequently reminded, bits of the forums end up in the media. Most of this thread really doesn't do the Gender Critical cause any favours. I'm not of course referring to the areas you actually discuss the topic, those bits I may well disagree with, but they're debate.

I'm talking about the insults, the gloating, the cheerleader affirmations and pre-teen level of use of emojis. I'm bemused by the need for it. I presume it's some sort of group bonding/team building thing.

Do we think Sebastian Coe is a transphobe and all the other insults lobbed at people who question the TRA’s ideology?

It’s cheating, plain and simple.

You can dress it up as inclusivity (it isn’t, it’s excluding females).

You can label it as increasing trans-acceptance. By whom? Many trans are ashamed of these athletes and the reflection on transpeople.

You can say you believe TWAW, (but that’s factually, biologically and scientifically incorrect. Repeating a lie doesn’t make it true, even if you change the meaning of words to try and make it so).

It’s cheating.

I particularly enjoyed the comment above that photograph FarNorth! Not only do we force women to compete and lose against men, but we force them to lose against old, wobbly, porky men just to rub our nose in the fact that yes, when it comes to brute force men will overpower us and we'd better submit or else. They speak for me.

FarNorth Thu 24-Mar-22 18:26:32

Also the simple fun of taking part Doodledog.

FarNorth Thu 24-Mar-22 18:25:06

Ryan McKinnon, aka Rachel McKinnon, aka Veronica Ivy middle aged and overweight has recently 'won' first place from a woman who has, I've no doubt, been working hard in her sport.
He has also, of course, pushed all the other women into a lower place too.

Doodledog Thu 24-Mar-22 18:24:16

It's incomprehensible, isn't it?

I mean, if these men 'feel like women', (whatever that means) they can 'live as women' in their private lives and still compete in male teams/races. That would make so much more sense. It can only be because of the prize money that they don't do so, really.

Chewbacca Thu 24-Mar-22 18:00:34

Oh look, another male professional sportsperson who has decided he's a woman. Emily Davies, a 6'2" cyclist can now compete against women in the Women's Elite Squad. So another natal woman to be pushed out of a place that she'll have spent a lifetime practising and competing for. But it's all good isn't it? - we need to give these men space to be their authentic selves.

Very glad to see Sharon Davies and Sonia O'Sullivan adding their voices of disquiet about this increasing problem in professional sports arenas.

FarNorth

Maybe trisher typed it all out then thought better of it and never posted it?

Oh.

What a lot of fuss over nothing then.

I didn’t understand trisher’s post either Doodledog. She said she’d wiped out one of her insulting posts, but I couldn’t find one of her insulting posts that said ‘deleted at poster’s request’. So it’s very puzzling.

The big word she used means,

pretending that one knows less about something than one really does

But I really hadn’t a clue what she meant, and when I couldn’t find an insulting post that had been deleted at the poster’s request, I thought perhaps she was TTP again.

Doodledog Thu 24-Mar-22 17:08:31

trisher

Oh Mollygo I think you are being disingenuous

Well, I'm not, and I'm bewildered. Who has wiped what, and why? And more to the point, how?

As far as I can tell, nothing has been deleted, and we can't edit our own posts, so I have no idea what's going on.

Rosie51 Thu 24-Mar-22 16:24:52

Must get the pompoms out ???

Oh dear I've just had to wipe out my own post. It was so insulting and about the style of post now being adopted on these threads (naughty trisher!!!)
Still it shows some people just copy others doesn't it.
Cheerleading has become imitation. (the sincerest form of flattery)

I take screenshots.

Because things that break guidelines get deleted and my background can make me susceptible to some of the narrative changes that happen afterwards. Screenshots prevent that from happening. The comments I actually saw anyway

Eh?

I don't understand any of this.
Me neither.
Either it’s been a long afternoon or GNHQ haven’t got round to deleting one of her insulting posts as quickly as she wanted. Don’t worry.

So erring by providing misinformation is now a matter of having a sense of humour?
You learn something new every day!

No the sense of humour is having the ability to laugh at yourself . It's something you need on these threads.
God knows if you took some of this stuff seriously you'd cut your wrists especially if you imagined the lot posting on here were anything like real life.
You’re part of the lot who are posting, trisher.
You mean you aren’t like that in real life? That’s really good news.

Rosie51 commented;
So what you're actually saying is providing misinformation about screening for a serious female health risk is OK as long as you laugh at yourself once this is identified.
Evidently, yes!

Wow, now we’re a ‘you lot’. Bit of a come down in the vocabulary stakes trisher.
If we didn’t feel the need to point out that TW are males, ergo they can’t be women (without someone claiming the right to alter the meaning of words to suit their purpose, just as incorrectly as swapping cervix for colposcopy) this thread would not exist.
If we didn’t have to continually point out that it’s only the ill-intentioned trans who we feel the need to reject, not all trans, threads like this would fade away. (I’m happy to clarify ill-intentioned trans if you’ve missed it in an earlier post.)
If we as feminists (or not) didn’t have to support women who are abused, attacked, cancelled by trans activists and i-i tw whose actions seem to be accepted by some posters, the silence would be blissful.
While posts damaging to AHF women and the majority of tw, and incorrect statements about changing sex, continue to be posted, we have no option but to post, rather than let untruths and damaging statements stand.
The answer is in your hands.

trisher Thu 24-Mar-22 14:02:46

but having my words twisted, and being accused of not caring about women, or all the other smears on my character would be infuriating if it wasn't done so transparently badly
Oh I so agree how many times have I been told I'm mysogynistic, put men first, think women should be abused. There are so many instances I really have lost count.
