Being in excellent health, I want to sell my house [I'm putting money into getting granny flat at my daughter's house]
I would love to travel and visit friends and family.
I also want to do a fundraising walk for Cancer Research

Do it!! If you are fit enough and can afford it then go and have a blast while you can. Life can change so quickly so enjoy it now.

Go for it
I traveled to Australia on my own. It felt like I was doing my year out!!
I think you have to be confident about it even though you have butterflies with excitement . Just make sure you have adequate insurance cover so check the small print
Enjoy wish I was going with you

Where are you going to travel first? I think some of us would love to join you! Just make sure you have adequate insurance to cover any thing that might go wrong and enjoy your travelling life.

Never too old, nanafunny, if you can do it then just do it. Make the world your playground while you can. 👍
Friday we’re taking delivery of our motorhome. Then first (small) trip is to 🇮🇹 Italy. So looking forward to it - we’ve already done the Cancer Support France fundraiser 😉.
Have a wonderful adventure !

Absolutely go for it. You'll only regret it if you don't

Littlema333 Wed 10-May-23 12:59:00

Willow68 Wed 10-May-23 13:02:42

No go do it! You have good health and that’s not something that always lasts, have a great adventure!

That post had given me hope!!! I am 66 and have had chronic illness for 34 years. It’s a massive thing you are doing.., go for it and congratulations for having the courage to do it! My goals are much lower, but one can dream x

Have a great time enjoy while you have your health and the energy

Nannashirlz Wed 10-May-23 13:19:01

Like they say you only as old has you feel. my dad used to say you only get one roll of the dice of life you don’t get a second chance enjoy it while you can. Don’t live with regrets on not doing something you want to do that you know you can

I was very encouraged to to read your post nanafunny. I too, 74 and in good health, would love to travel and see more of the world. As my husband , now divorced, used to do all the planning I’m wondering where to start. Also being alone makes me apprehensive .

You go for it, sounds wonderful and as they say you’re a long time dead.

ninamoore Wed 10-May-23 13:41:20

Enjoy your good health will you have it and live the life you want to. Many people can’t. 👍

Don't hold back, go and enjoy! Just dont forget to get good travel insurance so you are covered for any unexpected hiccups.
Life is too short to miss out on opportunities

MaggsMcG Wed 10-May-23 13:47:18

No. Go for it if you can get reasonable priced insurance. It sometimes restricts 75 Yr old to 35 days.

Stillstanding Wed 10-May-23 14:04:01

Go, go, go!

I became ill when I was 50 and just able to afford to go abroad which I put off until I was better..

Wish I had not. I have got progressively more and more ill until I am housebound for over 20 years.

Go. Even if it means selling property, jewelry, a kidney anything just go!

Bon voyage!

I'd say No. Do wonder how much your insurance will cost as you go travelling for a year though. My 9 day trip to a hotel in Europe even though no health issues was expensive enough.

I am a lot older than you and currently on holiday in Australia!!! During my stay here I have flown from Western Australia to the East Coast, and back again, and had a trip to Bali, wonderful Country, will definitely go back. I am going home to the UK next week, have a cruise booked to the Med in September, a tour of Portugal early next year, before returning down under for a couple of months!!! Go for it whilst you can, I am lucky to enjoy perfect health but am very aware that, at my advanced age, that can change at any time, so making the most of it xxxx good luck and happy travels xxx

Anniepooh Wed 10-May-23 14:20:10

Absolutely not too old! You go for it! Don't let anyone tell you you can't! Have a great time! smile

Pinkrinse Wed 10-May-23 14:20:41

Do it! Enjoy.

Froglady Wed 10-May-23 15:27:13

Go for it, otherwise I think you will regret not doing it later on on your life.

Fletcher1 Wed 10-May-23 15:45:29

Definitely not you go for it and enjoy

Ktsmum Wed 10-May-23 15:54:55

I suffee heart disease, type 2 diabetes and hypothyroidism, I got insurance to travel to Australia, of course it depends if you are currently having or have recently had treatment but don't let anything stop you if you are in good health.

knspol Wed 10-May-23 16:18:27

Go for it! Enjoy it while you can!! Wish I had your b***s!!!

hilz Wed 10-May-23 16:23:19

Not so much to do with age as wanting to be an intrepid explorer. You sound as though you are more than up for it so yes you must do it. Life is too short to live with regrets. Enjoy !
