The NHS in Wales isn’t dead but it’s definitely struggling to survive.

I don’t believe it is dead. In some ways it’s is a victim of its own success. There is so much waste by both patients and managing bodies. Those that abuse they system make it hard for those with a genuine need.

We have an excellent GP Practice. We are offered an annual health check. Following mine, I have had 4 calls from the GP. Two out-patient appointments and. Change in my medication. All this with out me having to ask.

No it's not dead but it needs resuscitation.

If I can offer you some small comfort Urms, my DH was diagnosed with cancer nine years ago. When we were told they couldn't operate we were devastated. However, he received treatment and he is still here back to his old self. He is not cured, I don't think they really use that term, but is in remission with an annual blood test.

My NDN's mother received an 'incurable' and untreatable cancer diagnosis seven years ago. She is still toddling around.

Her GP told my NDN that it's not at all unusual in older people - apparently the ageing process can actually hinder the progression of cancer, though the process is poorly understood.

Similar with FiL. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in his 80s, but died with it, not of it. AFAIk there was not much in the way of any treatment - he had vascular dementia and could be very uncooperative at the best of times.

You haven't derailed it at all. I am praying that your DH's illness is treatable and that you have a positive outcome.

You are all very kind. I seemed to just feel brave enough to post what I did on the spur of the moment. varian your words inspire hope which means a lot right now to me. We may be opposite sides on the political spectrum but when all comes to all, your kindness shines through.

You are clearly a very strong person so will give him all possible support. I do know of cases which have defied a bad prognosis.

I'm glad to see you posting again - those little anchors of 'normality' in every day life keep you going, but it's there in your mind all the time, isn't it?
