To think GN is much more pleasant than MN?

This is not intended to be some sort of froth/unpleasant thread.

It's just that genuinely to scroll MN you need a bulletproof vest - here is a bit different.

To be true, I have no idea what I am even doing on GN.

I'm not even 30!

Hopefully no one will come after me with pitchforks grin

soothed - welcome to GN and I get what you're saying!

I'm 59, happily married, no kids by choice so I'm not a mum or gran but when I signed up with MN I expected a few on there to be difficult to deal with OMG! There are more cauldron witches on there than there will ever be in Pendle!

Some really nasty bits of work at lot of them are! Thank heavens I don't have to do the school run with them! It's like being on the Jeremy Kyle show!

But I find Gransnet has a far better class of people who have a sense of humour and most can debate about subjects without turning to vicious verbal abuse!

And GN bosses are top class!

I think those who come on GN are a lot less judgemental than the ones on MN. Maybe it comes with more experience with our greater age and meeting different people as we meander through our lives ?

I am on MN and much prefer it to here, there is a nasty little clique of posters on here, reminds me of the school bullies.

Its not so much the school yard bullies you should worry about rather the cowardly snitches running to the teacher.

Strewth, are we living in different universes? Guess I am, different Timezone anyway.

I don’t go on very often but I have read some really, clever, witty, laugh out loud posts. Yes they swear a lot but they aren’t all busy reporting each other and it has a less clique feel.

This.
Plus they have better names than we do on here😂

I thought I was quite worldly but Mumsnet can still shock me.
A recent thread is a poor girl who doesn’t know who the father of her child is, it was quite graphic, you have to admire their honesty though.

Dear Lord -- I had no idea that was possible.

Must ask our daughters' (ages 60s to 40s) opinions.

Of course it is possible, if you sleep with two or more me during the same month.

It was when we were young, remember the permissive society?

Obviously, you didn't behave like that, and neither, actually, did I, but I knew girls who did.

Now a DNA test can prove without doubt who fathered a child, in the 1970s there could be reasonable doubt.

You mention the vicious verbal abuse
I’ve been on GN since 2011 so believe me when I say many posters would sometimes like to use vicious verbal abuse but for some odd reason we aren’t allowed to use it. 🤔

When I first joined I used to refer to them as The Mean Girls, as in the film. They don’t seem to be here anymore unless they’ve changed their names.

They flew off on their broomsticks . 🧹 Probably still circling the universe.

I have dibbed in and out of MN for ages, I agree that the most entertaining posts are Cheeky F*** ,Parking Wars and Guests who wont leave,
The language is a bit rough at times and there's always someone who jumps on you when they don't agree with your point of view.
GN is much more ladylike,,
