As you don't do Christmas Trees it's obviously cheaper not to have a tree at all!

So yes. any tree is expensive if you compare it to no tree!

But sometimes we do things just for the joy of it.

(I like fireworks too... and perfumes abd nice bath products occasionally).

And why ever not , tho I’m not keen on fireworks, I prefer laser light shows.
If I did do Christmas trees it would likely be a fake one and a small narrow one at that as space is at a premium here as is money, am one of what KS speaks fondly of ‘working people’.

I just want the Christmas adverts to start the 1st December because by the time Christmas comes I am sick to death of it all ,the shops are so greedy for money and want to temp people to buy all the time Christmas has lost all its meaning it is just for being with family or friends not about who does the biggest or best so sad ,🎄🎄🎄

^The Waitrose ad I watched is about a man who has lost his wife and goes walking to the same spot they used to go to and a robin usually joins him until one day it's hurt and he takes it home to look after etc etc^

Many potted trees have had roots cut to cram into the pots so may not be viable anyway. If you don't know you can't see that. I was caught out maybe 30 years ago with a tree which clearly (on reflection) could not be growing in that smallish pot.

I fully agree with you 100%! Literally in June I've seen Christmas stuff everywhere!

For those of us who are Atheist it's extremely annoying but it's just pesty anyway for everyone to have it rammed down our throats so ridiculously early!

I don't know why everyone is so aghast at something that's been the same for decades. I can definitely remember Christmas ads in the 1970's starting in October/November. I can also remember the supermarkets getting in Christmas food at that time. People joked back then, as they do now, that Easter eggs would be on the shelves on Boxing Day. If companies didn't start to advertise their wares until December they would miss out. It would be like travel companies not advertising summer breaks until June. Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day etc provide employment across all sorts of sectors.

And the wretched carrot is back (Aldi I'm looking at you).

Im on the Yougov survey panel and a few days ago they sent me the John Lewis christmas ad in a survey. I found it messy and confusing and told them so. Like some of the posters upthread I dont celebrate christmas so I am probably not the best person to ask.

Usually I decline the survey if it says that it contains video because I know its going to be some lame ad. Then they will ask how I "feel" about the company.

Do I trust this company?
Do I feel differently about them having seen the ad?
Am I more or less likely to shop there?
Would I feel proud to work there?
