With every new technology, there is danger as well as the benefits it brings.

There does need to be proper legislation but how can one government do that alone? Governments need to collaborate.

Any GNer who has seen even a little of FB lately can't help by be aware of the ludicrous but worrying sight of sentimentally fulsome AI posts accompanying old photographs that are completely irrelevant to the details in the text or which misinterpret a common object or action known to every real person over 40 alive at the moment, but which will not be famiar to future generations - history rewritten by robots!

What is also worrying is the number of ad videos showing trusted celebrities apparently endorsing medical and financial products which turn out to be deepfake inventions created by AI using stills of a celebrity in a different context. If people can be falsely shown doing and saying what they have never said or done, how can we trust CCCT security cameras? How can we trust evidence given in criminal trials if the prosecution and the defence can produce two videos of the accused, one showing them committing a crime and the other showing them doing something innocent somewhere else, both apparently at exactly the same time?

I really meant the use of weaponised AI by regimes including UK and US.

Is it going to be possible democratise control of AI as a weapon?
