I remember, years back, planning a holiday and said; can't go then, it's Father's Day So your AC were thoughtless, they must have known the others were going at the same time. You need to cultivate a good friend, that you will be happy to go on your birthday meal with, on the day. As you get older, I think that's what you have to do.

I live on my own and that's fine by me because my birthday is 1st April, and in the past so-called 'friends' have used it as a licence to perpetrate various humiliating tricks. I hate birthdays.

I've jettisoned quite a few of these idiots by losing my temper with them. No bad thing!

UPDATE : It’s THE Day - thankyou all you lovely people for your support and kind words.
I had a surprise on Tuesday - my daughter took me to see Riverdance - had a drink and snacks .
I have invited five of my neighbours for Prosecco, Samosas, and nibbles
This evening my daughter will take me for a shopping spree and Dinner.
I had messages from sons and d.I.ls - promised to FaceTime me later when the GC wake up and settled, but it’s not the same D.ils parents dropped by yesterday with Cards from the AC which they had left with them before they left on holiday. They could have brought it themselves before they left.
Once more, thank you all so much. You are all great friends and ports in a storm. 😍

Oh dear, I think I'm an oddball - I just don't like my birthday. I find the attention embarrassing but I enjoy being with others on their special day!
