Look on-line! That's what I got when I last went looking for something in M&S.
I don't do on-line shopping because I could see what was coming down the line a decade ago.
I agree with whoever said Next was better- so I'm shouting out for Next who will check if something you want is in stock if your size/colour isn't on the rail.
Also a bigger sgout out to charity shops- got a beautiful cashmere and wool Windsmoor winter coat a few weeks ago, beautiful silk lining looked like it had never been worn. £8! Win win ker-chiiiing!
Yes Next seem to have the level of service that M&S used to be proud of. My new M&S is dark and dingy, and first try to find an assistant that can help (yes they are pleasant when you do, but "not my department" is frequent.
Their fashions often seem quite odd, being neither for young folks or classic enough for older.
I used to buy my quality staples there, but when their non-iron t-shirts and his polos turned to crumpled rags in the washer, that started the decline.
I am not particularly tall at 5ft 6, but it seems that their classic lines are still aimed at my mother's generation of 5 to 5ft 2, and as to trousers, they never seem to cater for a 32 inside leg with their "long" being for the 6ft ladies
And I am not particularly well blessed, but all their D cups seem to be minimisers - no thank you. And don't get me started on their knickers or night wear (yes, obviously I am a granny, but even my own pre-central heating gran would not have been seen dead in their passion killer ranges)
