I know M&S has had huge problems with online sales etc but OMG it is still not working well at all. Also the range of goods is not what I am used to but maybe I'm behind the times. The range in all areas seems bizarre. DGD age 8 needs new knickers - only 1 set and not what she would wear. We need a pedestal mat for bathroom - only 1 comes up and not rubber backed which it needs to be to prevent slipping. DD shops in Primark so perhaps I should just go there. Does anyone else find the quality has deteriorated and the website is not working well?

I know few people who don't like their heatgen range, after trying, superb. I've got heatgen tops from 7 years ago. (you can wear them either under clothes or as tops, and they have leggings too, extra warm but so light)

Wyllow3 I have the heatgen tops in every colour. I wear them under tickly jumpers and as a base layer. They are comfortable, warm and wash really well.

Me too. I've had some of mine for a quite a few years. Sadly they don't do the lovely jewel colours they used to.

Oh yes, why cant they bring back the wonderful choice of 6 colours? Last year - or year before? they had red, and I snaffled up two - I'm sure they would be a hit. I had to retire a lovely yellow and orange one eventually after 8 years...

(There is a nice plum coloured one in the extra warm sort - it arrived an attractive soft colour)

I think it very much depends on the store. I was in Norwich a couple of weeks ago where there is a huge M&S. I spent a couple of happy hours in there and came out almost bankrupt. It was full of the most beautiful tempting things and I bought a number of items. I could have bought much more had I not restrained myself. 😂. I regularly buy on line and manage to get most things that I want.

I’m a M&S fan. I buy online a lot and collect at my local food hall . I like their jeans as they do a short length and are reasonably priced and good quality. I bought some wide legged cord trousers a few months ago and love them . I also like their bras especially the minimiser bras . Marks have a fashion buyer who used to work for Topshop and imo she has upped their ranges to appeal to a bigger demograph. The fashion writers at the Times regularly include M&S clothes , shoes and bags .
I think the key to shopping at m&s is to go to one of the bigger stores .

My only peeve is that of the few things I’ve wanted to order lately, nearly all have been out of stock! 🙁

I think that after some years of bizarre fashions M&S has returned to what they were best at. Classic basics, well-made and very reasonable prices.
Suddenly my daughters are buying lots of M&S clothes and household essentials. My only grumble is that the nearest branch is over an hour away, beyond a horrible dreary great town, so I must always buy their stuff on-line when I would prefer to see and handle it.

I saw a lovely winter coat online, but because their sizing keeps changing, I went to my nearest. Not an assistant or chair in sight so everything belonging to me was piled on the floor.

I found a very well-made showerproof warm coat at a reasonable price. Roomy and has poppers for fastening. Pleased I tried them on because of the sizing issue. They have upped their game re quality.

I have T-shirts bought 20 years ago, still good and a pair of trousers around 1 year ago, the seams unravelled, so I binned it.

Good job my Granny isn't around. her generation spent countless hours, sides to middling sheets, turning collars and cuffs, darning socks and generally making everything last as long as it possibly could.

I rarely shop online for clothes. I like to try things on as I'm an awkward size (big boobs but small frame) and I also have eczema so the feel of the material is important. We have a huge M&S near us but they only ever seem to have a couple of pieces of any one clothing item. And within that, they only ever have a size 6 or a size 22 left. It drives me nuts!

Sarnia please don't be so quick to judge.

Charleygirl has serious issues with her eyesight so she would not be able to see to do the necessary repair.

She is of the same generation as me. We know all about repairing clothes and household items thank you. smile

I think it depends very much on the branch. I sometimes shop in the Windsor or Richmond branches and they carry a good range of well designed clothes. But both branches are quite small.
I have MS clothes from 20/30 plus years ago and the quality was so good then. I wish I had kept more items. Luckily I am the same size so could wear all sorts of things now I had then.
Hopefully their quality will improve but of course will bs more expensive.

Thank you Aldom I am now registered partially sighted and yes, in my younger days I would have sewn the seams, but not nowadays.

Just before Christmas, M and S at last had a pair of the trousers that I like in my size and short leg length. Such disappointment when they arrived. They are labelled short but are at least six inches too long and look like they are the right length for my six foot DH. I know I could shorten them but I especially waited for the short length as I find when I shorten trousers they never fall to my satisfaction. Such a pain, as I now have to go about returning them,

We use pedestal mats. I like my feet warm when sitting on the loo.

I have no problem with M & S shops. But then all I wear are jeggings and tops, and they always have a good stock of them.

My only gripe is that 'short' is never short enough for me. I'm 5' tall (or short) and I believe their short range is aimed at women who are about 5'4".

But tbf, the quality of clothes used to be so very much better than it is now.

My partner had to return some shoes to M&S and he was able to take them to a nearby M&S food shop.

They are doing extra short in some of the trousers.

Confusing for me, as I was always 'regular' but now they seem longer and short is just a bit too short for me.

Why do all the cosy dressing gowns in M&S (and most places) have hoods? I do not need or want a hood on a dressing gown.
Ordered one from Cotton Traders, it's soft and lovely and just the right colour - but it's unisex and the length is suitable for someone of at least 5' 10"!

They have so ,many different style of jeans ... why ?
