Adult colouring books.

I got some for Christmas with coloured pencils. I want to get the gel pens for brighter colours. I think it's great to do while watching television. Especially if your watching what OH likes.

I have a Victorian House colouring book, every page is a different room and there is a garden as well. The living room looks just like my grandmas, and I can't wait to recreate it, with the gold coloured tablecloth etc. I bpught it from Amazon and am thinking of copying each page using the drafts setting on the printer, so that the lines are less dark and it will not leak - although it is good quality paper. I also have a fashion colouring book based on 20's fashion. Just the thing to do when you have the 'flu - after you start to feel you might live after all!

Well it's very different from the usual colouring books on sale just before Christmas.

The book people website has quite a few colouring options including a post card one - like the sound of that. There's a Millie Marotta range on there too, including the animal and tropical books at £3.99 + £2.95 P&P. Think I will buy the animal one and as it's free P&P on orders over £25, I might see if there's anything I would like to buy as Christmas presents!

The post cards are lovely. GD, age 6, sent me a half finished one with please continue on the back and I did likewise.

Falconbird: I like the sound of calendars to colour. I must try Googling them.

I noticed that Waterstones are selling postcards to colour in as well as the books. For those who enjoy colouring but don't feel they can justify doing it just for the sake of it, these would give the activity a purpose. Once coloured, the postcards could be sent as thank you cards etc.

I bought a calendar with a page to colour in for every month. for my dil for Christmas.

I thought she could colour them in with my little gd and it would help my gd learn the days of the week, months, seasons etc.,

Judthepud2 thanks for your reply. It does make sense. I have a lovely set of gel pens and I might treat myself now to a colouring book to go with them.

The Millie Marotta colouring books are printed on much better quality paper which doesn't leak through to the other side if you, like me, prefer to use fine tipped pens. Most of the books I have seen have heavy black outlines on thin paper which I find quite ugly. Millie's are beautifully produced fine lined drawings in complex patterns. I love using the gel and glitter pens too. If they are good quality they can produce stunning results. Cheap ones are a bit splodgy and don't last long. You get what you pay for.

I think they're great but oh are they cashing in on it, saw some in Asda today £6!

My family gave me a selection of fine-nibbed pens, jel pens, glitter pens, and coloured pencils. Also, a book which consists of postcards which after being completed can then be posted.

I have acquired about 4 over the last few years and never used one! I'm going to take one on holiday with me and hopefully I will find it relaxing

I won a really good one in a raffle! What are the best colouring pencils to use?

Judthepud2 I was thinking about buying one of these colouring books, so can I ask in what way the quality can differ? I know the Millie Marotta range is quite expensive, but I'm not sure why.

Yes, I have a colouring book and lovely colourful pencils. It's relaxing and a joy to do. I might log off and get to it...

I have not attempted to colour it - and not sure I ever will!

Yes - I have these colouring books and I enjoy them - although I only occasionally have time for them. My DD gave me one that adds a new dimension to the adult in adult colouring book - it is the Karma Sutra! Hmmm.

I've just finished a big Christmas jigsaw - apart from the one missing piece, that is...

Oh yes jigsaws! That reminds me, we always get a couple of Christmas ones - have loads in the loft must get them ready for the charity shop.
