Narrow freezer with shelves

Try googling 50cm wide freezer. That is the narrowist width widely available. Then look to see which ones have shelves, rather than drawers.

The idea of draws is to keep more of the cold air inside the freezer every time you open the door. Removing the draws in favour of just a plain open shelve area would cause the freezer cooling unit to work overtime taking up much more energy to maintain the internal temperature.
A small chest freezer maybe the way to go, you can stack foodstuffs in plastic boxes that are fairly easy to lift out, and this type of freezer is also often more slimline to fit within a narrow gap, mine is only 50cm wide. Larger items can be packed into the more sturdy type Bags for life, and just dropped into the deeper area for easy retreaval using the bags handles.

This one looks promising. There may be flaps at the front of the shelves but definitely no drawers. And maybe the flaps can be removed? Sorry for the long link but couldn't work out how to do it any other way!

aggie

Not sure how shelves would work , the drawers keep everything contained especially things not in boxes

The freezer side of our fridge/freezer has open glass shelves and works well, although I tend to keep home-grown produce in there in plastic boxes.
It has two deep drawers at the bottom as well.

Hi, we have just replaced the “storage” freezer we keep in a sort of box room off the living room. It’s under counter size but it has the new style liftout drawers which have a glass shelf underneath. It said in the instruction book you can take out the drawers if you need more space putting the stuff directly on the glass.
So I suppose it’s a case of looking at some models to see if they might suit your needs.

Yes I can imagine that would be difficult.

Thanks

I wouldn't be tempted by one that is too tall - I chose a tall one as we were replacing two freezers and find I have to get a stool to reach the top. Mind you, it does have drawers so an open shelved one may be easier.

(I'm not that short either!)

Hello Gr8dame (fab username!)
If I were you, I'd be thinking about finding a freezer that you like and modifying it, hopefully you have someone who can help you.
You may be able to put in perspex or similar to form shelves.

It works really well for me aggie. I had an American style fridge freezer that I had to leave in my old house when I moved here. I put everything in clip-top boxes which I can stack on the shelves and pull out as needed. Frozen peas and fruit went into plastic cereal containers and sat in the narrow shelving areas inside the door. Wish I’d had the room to bring it with me when I moved ?

Oh sorry. I'm sure there must be something out there somewhere for you.

Gr8dame Thu 05-Nov-20 18:12:37

Thanks for trying Auntieflo I really appreciate it but sadly these have drawers and I just can’t manage them because on top of my disability I have broken my dominant wrist ?

Auntieflo Thu 05-Nov-20 16:55:43

Well, apologies, that didn't work.

John Lewis have a BEKO FJFP1685W. @£ 429.00

Or there is

(The third one was a 50/50 split)

Have a look on AO.com, and good luck with your search.

Here are 3 that I found, although the standard width seems to be 55-60cms

Does anyone know where I can get a tall, narrow freezer with no drawers please? I just want shelves as I have downsized recently and can’t cope with the tiny freezing compartment on the built in fridge freezer already here. I intend to rip it out and install a larder fridge and a separate larder freezer but being disabled need shelves instead of drawers. TIA
