What do you do with all the lovely things that you make?

I have someone in mind before I start to 'make'. Limited to knitting/crochet. Needlework is strictly repair. No greater talent in that arena.

I'm loving all this craft chat! Thank goodness for crafts during lockdown.

Camelot I used 'scarves' as a sort of shorthand, here's one of my Outlander inspired knits. I suppose you could say it is a shoulder-scarf.

Sometimes my daughter says "Ooh that is so Game of Thrones" about some of my creations.

Witzend do you have a pattern for the nativity knitted figures please? I'd love to have a go!

I love to do crafting as well. This year, with staying home more, I have made many things. Some I gave to charity, hospices, hospital, friends, neighbours and family. Of course I did keep some for myself.

My increase in time spent at the sewing machine, made me want an easier to use machine, as I am paraplegic. I found a super machine on line and it whizzes away with time!

Examples of things I have made includes;

book cushions with a handle for easy carrying
small knee quilts
a sensory blanket for blind children
a fiddle blanket for those with dementia

drawstring gift bags
tote bags

That’s absolutely lovely Copes283. Reminds me of my lovely uncle - he enjoyed sewing, auntie hated it so that worked well for them. He made all the curtains and covers and also did cross-stitching. I remember his old Singer, it’s still working I’m told.

I knit and crochet things like blankets, shawls and cowls and have an Etsy shop for those but recently took on a comission for a sweater. I also paint and stitch a bit and for this I joined a Facebook art swap group with other lovely people who make things. We have a theme each month and pair up to swap our creations.

Kizzykins I just love that Highland cow, he is absolutely gorgeous! (as are the others too but he just draws me to him!) I made a footstool Highland Cow (Hamish) and a sheep (Wilma) and do some refurbishing/upcycling of things but can't get motivated at the moment as too stressed about other things and recovering from major surgery

My main crafting efforts are knitting and Jewellery making. I am not very quick and I have to be in the right mood. At the moment I am finishing off a red sparkly jumper which will be nice for Christmas.
Kizzykins your felted figures are lovely.

I used to be an avid knitter and the harder or lacier the pattern the better, but I've lost my motivation at the moment, despite having stacks of wool to use up. My mother used to volunteer my services to make lacy christening shawls and it used to drive me mad due to me working and the time it takes to make one. I keep saying I will make some baby blankets for some of the prem baby units who are asking at the moment.

Hi all you clever ladies! (I don't think I've seen a post from any other gender here yet!) The attached pic is of the quilt I made for StepGd to take to uni with her. Her Mum told me the colours she thought she would like, Granddad bought the fabric and I did the work! So a collaborative work, you might say! It's the first I've made to a pattern so was pleased to have completed it in time to go off with her in September. My 87 year old Mum has had various cushions, pot holders, bags etc. Before my father died I made him a quilt with owl blocks. Took ages! I was pleased to complete it and give it to him for what turned out to be his penultimate Christmas. I've done quilts for two small GC and one for our bed which took ages as it's King size. During lockdown 1, I didn't feel like sewing, but was spurred into action making laundry bags for the NHS having seen a post on FB. Since that project completed I've been making face coverings for family and friends. Next project is a memory bear using my father's old shirts. Never made toys before, so probably not likely to be a Christmas present this year!! I love to read what you've all been doing to keep yourselves busy. Lots of charity work being done ... well done, at least we're doing some good! Keep crafty!

What sort of scarves fo you make, fevertree?

chattycathy Hobbycraft has a good range of reasonably priced yarns and often there is a "3 for the price of 2" offer on some. I think at the moment they are doing online shopping. I get most of mine from Black Sheep Wools, also online. They have fabulous wools but also a very good reduced section.

I try to make small things which don't take up too much space as I'm in a small house, I make small pictures out of patchwork and needlework, dresses which I wear in summer, cushions for the sofa and have a few quilts on the bed. I've reached capacity on the cushion front.
If I'm in the mood I make make greeting cards and I need a few more this Christmas.

Blossoming

I make jewellery. Sometimes it’s made with a recipient in mind, such as this little necklace as a Christening present for a great niece. Sometimes I donate it to a local charity for tombola or raffle prizes. Sometimes I wear it.

Derailing totally here, sorry. How difficult is it to melt silver and make into something else? Please Blossoming. I have quite a few single earrings, having lost the other, over the years- and would love to make a simple pendant, just hammered. Thanks.

I'm a trained couturiere so a lot of my creations are commissions.

I also do a lot of craft stuff: cushions, cards, gifts, decorations and so it goes on. Quite a lot is done for commissions but I also always have something to take to a friend, or a small birthday gift plus cards.

I sell a lot at Christmas markets but this year I think all these will be cancelled. however I am going to try and sort a simple website and sell this way.

At the moment I am doing cards, mainly Christmas, embroidery frames with Christmas themes, quilted baubles.

Nannan2 I'd love to make a chunky throw (for myself) but when I looked at yarn it seemed very expensive. What would you say is the approximate cost? And is there anywhere you'd recommend for purchasing the yarn.

I usually teach workshops but of course thats all went pear shaped. Miss them so much

I have stopped making things for others, as mostly the gifts weren't appreciated,

I make a new nativity scene each year which we put in the sitting-room window, so it can be seen from outside.

Apart from that I sew and knit for my collection of dolls - they are so well brought up that they thank me nicely and wear what I made for them.

(Haven't much option really, have they?)

Like bridie54 I do patchwork quilts for Linus. I get the pleasure of making them and know that they are used. I've made quilts of my own but there's only so many you can use. Main love is crochet. Have made several lovely blankets during lockdown but know family and friends would not appreciate a gift of one. It's a bit presumptive to think others would. Just discovered mosaic crochet,in picture, and made a small blanket. Itching to do more, but where to put them. Fortunately a friend has asked for a crochet baby shawl so at least that will be useful.

Since March I've sewn 16 garments for me - mostly tops including two dresses, a coat, skirt and two pairs of trousers, 2 sweatshirts for DGDs, a sweatshirt for DH birthday, finished a knitted nativity set (thank goodness), taught myself to embroider and do cross-stitch, taken up a huge set of curtains, and almost finished a knitted sweater from two years ago. My watercolour painting tools haven't been touched. I love to be creative.

I do Craft Fayres with my illuminated jars. I have a cupboard full this year as nowhere to sell them & I would not want the trouble of posting them.
They are very pretty with fairies & unicorns in a glittery jar with flowers around the top & a tea light. They are such fun to make- no 2 the same ever!
Hopefully next year sometime I can get them out of the cupboard again!
