Did post to you whywhywhy but no idea where it is went . Have a look at other people's work. If you fancy a go either buy a small kit or The world of cross stitching magazine it comes with free kit and charts of all sizes inside. There is cross stitcher magazine but prefer the other one .

Give a go and see how you feel about it . I frame my work or make into coasters , Christmas decorations, cushion covers,needle cases. You can make them into cards to send to friends .

It's a slow craft but that's what I love about it as it slows you down and completely absorbing. Even a small chart can take a 2-4 hours some of my works can take 3-4 months .

Whiff these are fabulous. I’ve never tried it.

PiscesLady went to my new craft group on Wednesday and was welcomed and felt at home lovely to be with crafters again . I taught someone to cross stitch. There are a couple of cross stitchers ..One is doing 2 tiger heads on printed on Adia beautiful work. But I love counted cross stitch. Doing my dragons at home so picked a cottage to do for craft group as my dragons have many colour changes and some colours very similar. Make my lemonade marmalade hydrid lemon drizzle cake in gluten free and ordinary as I didn't know if anyone was gluten free. 2 were so glad I did it. There is only space for 20 so got my name down for next month. Loved seeing other peoples work. Crafter's are a different breed. There was a pile of things for people to help themselves. I took somethings in and pleased to see they went .

Your sweet peas sounds lovely. An uncle of mine always grew them and every week gave me a bunch. Loved the smell.

My health has improved my postman told me yesterday I was looking better. Just wanting for an appointment to have a scan on the arteries in my neck . On a couple of extra tablets but no side effects so that's good.

Can't remember if I said joined another exercise class move it or lose it which I do on a Tuesday we do different exercises to my Monday sit fit class. So get a thorough work out plus back to doing my 7 exercises at home plus my 300 rotations on my static pedals. Great to feel like me again.

Thanks for the compliments on my tulip. Surprisingly and to my delight, it was just crosses with no half crosses, outlining or top stitching. I remember your feeling on these!
I have started a sweet pea cross stitch. I'm taking this one very slowly. I thought it was on a dark fabric but not to be, the 'dark fabric' is all dark green cross stitches. The flowers have a lot of half stitches, and if I ever get to the end - there is a lot of top stitching to be done. The brooches are looking more attractive!!

CanadianGran I'm another who cannot knit. I'm left handed but could never get to grips with it.
Like Whiff I would love to see a photo of your jumper, when photos are allowed again. I understand that because of problems on Mumsnet this function has been disabled.

CanadianGran I used to knit over 20 years ago by my health got worse and could no longer co ordinate the knitting needles and didn't like crochet.

Not to put you off being here and would love to see your work . There are threads for knitters who help eachother if they get stuck on a pattern and share where to get patterns for free . Plus post pictures of what they are make clothing and toys .

PiscesLady love your tulip. The fringed edge ones are my favourite and have some bulbs in my garden . The delicate shading brings it to life and so many colours changes especially as some are close in colour.

Thank you they thought I had a heart attack but turns out I probably had a TIA . My cardiologist has referred me to a stroke neurologist and hopes it won't be soon before I see someone as I need a MRI on my brain . At least having the angiography only showed slight furring in my right artery and didn't need a stent . But couldn't have had better care at the 2 hospitals I stayed in . My daughter had a call from me on 6th could only say help . As I had a headache, I don't get headaches and pain left side of my neck and it kicked my HPX in and set my PAF off. Got to the hospital at 5am as had tests all done within a hour . Saw my cardiologist on 22nd discharging me back to GP care but wants me on low dose statin to prevent further furring. Saw my GP Wednesday she is worried my sodium levels are very low so having a blood test on Friday. And then see if I have to see anyone else. But I can't fault the healthcare here it's excellent didn't have this healthcare where I used to live, so glad I moved here in 2019. My brother and sister in moved to Lincolnshire and their healthcare is excellent far better than they had before.

Don't feel guilty about the brooches . I don't know about you but time flies by . And cross stitch is a slow craft .

Can't remember if I said I was going to a craft group at the Brain Charity couple of months before Christmas. Haven't been this year as it didn't start up again until 15th January. But only came out of hospital on the 13th and had a pj week which I have never done before but it felt right doing it here. My daughter was worried about me going as with bus,train and waiting time took me about 2 hours each way. So have given it up but will go to special events at the Brain Charity they have a whole day one in March so going to that. But I have found a new craft group short bus journey away over my favourite cafe just once a month so going to that on the 19th. Have to sort out some cross stitch to do as my dragons I am doing had so many colours changes I need to concentrate. Will choose a smaller design with more contrasting colours . That way I can chat and stitch. Give me an excuse to bake again to take with me .

I've just had a look at this thread, and what wonderful work everyone has done! Well done.

I'm not a cross-stitcher or embroiderer, but dabble in knitting. Currently I'm working on a pullover for my daughter, very simple stockinette stitch, but I've never done a top-down knit before. I'll try to post a photo once done.

For some reason I no longer get emails that alert me to new postings on any threads that I am 'watching'. Very frustrating as I don't always get to look.

I really do like your Riolis picture, well done for persevering with the thread as well as the short supply of it. Well done for sourcing some more too.

I never did get to post my tulip picture. I have yet to wash, press & frame it as you can tell!
I'm feeling guilty for not making any more brooches, too many distractions. I still have a few weeks to the deadline so must get my act together.

Finally finished my Riolis kit, first time using wool and acrylic thread. Gave a lovely finish but the thread was a nightmare it kept fraying. And run out of thread so had to buy some more . Riolis didn't get back in touch with me over the number of threads . So Stitcher got the numbers for me so ordered the threads from them.

PiscesLady thank you I loved doing it . Even with gold plated needles you have to push hard to get through the plastic Aida . So continuing doing my Riolis kit I had for my birthday . Enjoying it but the thread is annoying as it's wool and acrylic and it frays . Much prefer DMC threads .

I am off to see Santa on Sunday with my daughter and 2 grandson's. I will no doubt come home with a new Christmas decoration. Never mind November flying by the year has for me . Hope you are enjoying doing the brooches .

Whiff I love the Gingerbread House! I have never worked with plastic Aida. If it hurts your hands, putting it away for a while is a good idea. What you have done so far looks wonderful. The roof looks so textured. I'm really impressed. You might have to work on it for just a few short minutes at a time, rather than suffer.
Where has November gone??!!

This as far as I got on my gingerbread house. So putting it away and hopefully finish it sometime next year. Hate leaving work unfinished but my hands can't take the cold and plastic Aida .

PiscesLady thank you . I started a gingerbread house on plastic Aida done the 2 ends and most of one side of the roof but it hurts my hands so it may be for next year . Look forward to seeing your brooches .

I'd hoped to have finished the tulip by now but not much more to do. I will have to resist the urge to start another cross stitch, there are other things I need to be doing first, the brooches to start with.

Whiff What a difference a frame makes! They looked good before, even better now! The sea scene doesn't look tilted to me and looks good too.

I've not framed any of mine yet, maybe some earlier ones. DH likes to do them, he's got all the gear to make them, one day....

Thanks for suggesting charity shops for my craft mags. I had thought about Ebay but apart from all the faff, I couldn't see that the ones on there were selling. Craft shops it will be.

My tulip is still work in progress, but the end is in sight!

I stitched most of this with a Siamese cat lying on my lap underneath it. I’m surprised I didn’t inadvertently attach him to it from time to time. 😹

I’d forgotten that I posted this on here. I was just thinking about it the other day and realised that I rather regret giving it away in a major clear out when I moved house. I wonder where it is now.

Finally frame the sea scene I knows it's tilted but after 3 hours trying to do it was losing the will to live . Did the other 2 last weekend they worked perfectly.

PiscesLady thank you . I will be framing them . Charity shops will take cross magazines . I have given them some plus free kits I don't want to do . They are always snapped up.

I had been going to the same craft group for 5 years we I loved but something happened which I have written about on other threads . And decided on the bus home I wouldn't go again . So said so on our what's app group. Which didn't go down with a couple of them and had not very nice texts . 3 messaged me to ask me to stay but I have had enough. Going to the Brain Charity to there gel printing class. Everyone helped put everything out ,we all took things in every week for us all to use and everyone cleaned up after wards . That's how it should have been at my craft group. But wasn't. I am going to the Brain Charity knit and natter and said they said I am welcome to go with my cross stitch. So looking forward to it .

Whiff I love both of those! Especially the kingfisher - I have a 'thing' about kingfishers! Will you frame them?
My tulip is 'growing' ! I have done about three quarters so far.

I hope you find your new craft group inspirational and friendly too. I've not been to one for 40 plus years. I plan to clear out my craft magazines, would a craft group be interested do you think? If so I will try & find a local group to pass them on to, rather than throw them in the recycling.
