Halloween ideas?

I've made around 24 of these.
A teeny weeny bit fiddly but when in the zone, quite satisfying.
They're around 2 1/2 inches, so not huge.

I have a few ideas how to utilise them.
But wondered if someone else had any ideas too?

Witzend that is cute and deserves to be used

Witzend Sat 22-Oct-22 10:40:45

Yesterday I was rummaging through a very over-stuffed drawer for something, when I came across this - I’d completely forgotten it - made for rather younger Gdcs to put their T and T goodies in, only I never got around to the 2nd because a) I didn’t think it turned out at all well, plus on the small side, and b) I’m useless at embroidery, so doing the face was a major PITA - I had to undo and start again several times, and it’s still nowt to shout about.

I might offer it to Gdc3 now, though - she’s only 2 3/4 and might like it anyway, and I know the two elder won’t feel slighted once I’ve explained.

Thank you ? ?

Witzend Sat 22-Oct-22 09:11:59

That’s beautiful, Sacha! I hope it lasts well for you!

Grandmabatty Fri 21-Oct-22 20:11:00

Sacha that's lovely.

I made this wreath at a class last week, really enjoyed making it and looks lovely on the front door. Hoping it will last until I put the Christmas one up.

Thanks, Yammy - I’m going to nick that balloon in an old sheet idea for Halloween night - it might have to be an old pillowcase though.

Yammy Fri 21-Oct-22 16:16:54

Namsnanny

Still no mouse but a couple of toad stools instead!

I love the toadstools. so much talent and patience.
A young friend has just asked for ideas for her house so I thought back. A balloon in an old sheet tied around the neck with a horrible face was put in a tree by a neighbour each year. others decorated their trees with synthetic kapok and teased it out to look like cobwebs with plastic spiders.

I'm not at home and cant remember the number of the channel. I'll post it later.
It was a selling channel, but they did lots of demonstrations.smile

Grandmabatty Fri 21-Oct-22 14:48:34

Again thank you Namsnanny. What channel is that on? I only have Freeview but a Hobbycraft channel would be interesting

Namsnanny Fri 21-Oct-22 14:26:30

Oh lovely! Well done. They're both beautiful, but my favourite is the bright one on the right.
I really like seeing peoples efforts.
I even like watching people crafting on youtube.
I couldnt sleep again last night, so I ended up watching hobbiecraft channel on tv until I dropped off?

Grandmabatty Fri 21-Oct-22 14:01:45

My eyesight isn't what it used to be, so here are are two I made a while ago.

Namsnanny Fri 21-Oct-22 13:44:55

Ooh I love cross stitch Grandmabatty I cant do it, but it's on my list to learn.
seasonal display is a good idea.

Grandmabatty Fri 21-Oct-22 13:15:20

Thank you Namsnanny ☺️

Grandmabatty Fri 21-Oct-22 13:14:55

I'm keeping them all! I change my decorations with the seasons so they'll stay out until half way through November. I love the toadstools! I can't crochet and I've little patience to knit. I have some Halloween cross stitch work. I'll post that at some point.

Namsnanny Fri 21-Oct-22 13:09:27

How lovely Grandmabatty are you keeping all three, or will you gift some?

Witzend as there is so much knitting on the wreath, I think the rain may take its toll.
Probably I'll make a display for indoors.
Not that anyone but myself and H will see it, but what the matter?grin

Namsnanny Fri 21-Oct-22 13:02:35

Thanks (Witzend* About 4 of the very smallest leaves are crochet.
I cant do crochet, so I've cheated a bit by adding my friends.
I sat last January knitting leaves with no real purpose and thought they might come in handy some time
I've two large plastic bags of them!
I'm going to do the same with the toadstools, as I havent got a pattern, and you can bet your bottom dollar,I shall forget how I made them?

Grandmabatty Fri 21-Oct-22 13:01:30

More autumn than Halloween really. Painting on ceramic to create a coaster, decoupage to create a pumpkin and a pastel of a sycamore leaf

Witzend Fri 21-Oct-22 12:56:49

That’s gorgeous, Namsnanny! Is it for your own door?
The leaves are amazing - I once tried making some for a H wreath for Gdcs, but gave up and knitted some other bits instead.

Namsnanny Fri 21-Oct-22 12:56:15

Anyone else have halloween projects they would like to post photos of?
Doesnt have to be just knitting.
I would love to see them smile

Namsnanny Fri 21-Oct-22 12:52:05

Still no mouse but a couple of toad stools instead!

Witzend Sat 15-Oct-22 09:09:09

Namsnanny

This is where I've got so far
Nothing is permanently attached as I havent started the mouse yet

That is absolutely beautiful , Namsnanny! ??

Namsnanny Sat 15-Oct-22 00:12:50

TBH Georgesgran I always see the faults and flaws when I make something.
But it's really supportive when others like what I've made. Thank you.smile
BTW why dont you take a photo of your door wreath and post it?
As you dont get many passers by, we can enjoy it!

Esmay I'd love to see your decorations as well
How about posting a photo too?

I agree with your explanation of how seasonal decorations and fancy dress costumes get reused.
It's so nice to mark the changing of the year in this way.
We dont 'celebrate' Halloween as such in my house.
But it is a great opportunity to ramp up the craft session's ??

Yammy I like your idea of the wadding showing through, with a mouse nibbling at it!

Namsnanny Fri 14-Oct-22 23:47:21

Arnt they cute Whiff? Your gs will love them

Thanks Beechnut grandmaba a work in progress.smile

Parlorgames I'm not sure I know what RAOCK is?

Whiff Thu 13-Oct-22 22:59:21

Namsnanny that is beautiful. I go to a mixed craft group on Thursday's. One of our members brought all these in and said help yourself and if you would like give some money to charity as she didn't want any payment. I picked these for my grandsons and gave £10 to The Brain Charity which are helping me.
