Donna Smith Brough Shawl

Has anyone knitted this shawl? I have downloaded the pattern, all 15 pages! I am not keen on Shetland wool however, no offence to any Shetlanders, I am allergic to wool. Am just wondering if anyone has used a different wool and was it successful. I suppose I could knit a small sample but am interested to know if there are any success stories. Thank you.

I googled and if it’s what I saw, the wool is DK weight. I’m currently knitting a shawl with DK weight cotton as I needed to avoid wool.

I knitted a shawl recently using Sirdar Saltaire Aran Yarn

It is 55% acrylic, 25% nylon, 20% alpaca. It says it's Aran but knits as a double knit. It made a cosy light-weight shawl which I use nearly every evening and while travelling too.
