My favourite too - and uniquely, it actually looked wearable.

If only Tony had listened to the instructions about strong bold colour contrasts. But iirc his appliqué was very badly done too.

Lizzy listened to the advice about not making the tulips too realistic just at the right moment. (it was Lizzy, wasn't it, with the tulips?)

Exquisite, and true to the Surrealist movement with the swirls and dreamy folds.

Actually, I think all the surrealists were as high as kites with their addiction to Opium and other narcotics, so it was a difficult week to translate their ideas into garments.

My favourite garment this week was Asmaa's blouse. It was incredible.

I was trying to think what I would make but it might end up being just a hat! Painted fabric would be very difficult to work with.

Braque was a Modernist and used a similar palette to Tony's skirt.
(Surely those garish appliques were more pop art?)

Lots of great creations this week but my favourite was Asmaa’s top.

Seadragon I loved the audio version that she narrated herself.

Chardy Mondrian used bright colours in his abstract paintings, likewise Miro and others like him. An internet search will bring up lots of modenrist artworks which use those bright colours in paintings that are echoed by the garish appliques you did not like.

For the first tìme this series I agreed with the GOTW and the one who went home.

I love most things Asmara does but I Really loved the lace'n'leather combo.

I did not type "Asmara". My keaboard has a mind of its own today.

I am sorry to say that I read Esme's book and didn't like it at all .... in fact I found it quite boring. Just saying!

On the subject of blankets - crocheted blankets are no longer required for refugees by Oxfam and Save The Children as they are too bulky to transport and impractical to use.

When I did voluntary work for SCF starting in the mid 80s our local library had a box for people to leave odds and ends of knitting wool which would be passed on to the ladies who or crocheted squares for blankets. When it became known that they were no longer needed there was quite an uproar from the grannies of that time and I think that the charities did lose some support.

The fact that the sewers had such a wide selection of blankets shows that they are not in such demand.

Am I alone in finding this series utterly boring. Such a waste of talent and materials. Perhaps next week will improve when they make something that can actually be worn.

It's a pity because so many people are eager to help and like to think they're doing something more than donating money. They might have a stash of yarn but not much spare cash to donate.

I haven’t enjoyed this series quite as much as the previous ones for some reason. Children’s week’s always my favourite though,

A little bolero or 3/4 length sleeves maybe.

I loved the winner though. Very clever imho.

Yep boring ! Switch it off every week. Why is the presenter there? Not funny, not clever and just gets in the way.

The presenter is beyond silly and needs to go. She adds nothing to the programme and pushes the judges into behaving ridiculously which helps no one.

I am glad that Harness Man has gone. He was very irksome.

I liked the children's dresses, especially the dirndl style one.

I loved both the winner and the tartan one. I disagreed with Patrick that the tartan one needed more red at the fro t.
Luckygirl13, also pleased harness man has gone. I hated how he had to incorporate a harness into everything he did.
Which one was the dirndl style one? I can’t picture it.

I am glad that this week's poorest sewer has gone as she annoyed me. I loved the winning dress. It looked lovely.

Bring back Joe Lycett as presenter. The current presenter brings nothing to the table and is too annoying.

A sleeveless Christmas dress for a 5 year old?

If my DGD was given a bolero to wear over a sleeveless dress she'd be stripping it off even in the middle of winter!

I loved the look of the winning dress. The bow was made beautifully, real catwalk superb.

However I did wonder how a dress like that would work in use. you know, wearing it at a party, with all the the rough and tumble that goes on or sitting in a restaurant and wriggling on a chair.
