Chunky wool for baby blanket

Can someone recommend a chunky wool (plain colour) that I can use for a baby blanket.

I am looking for something soft but that is machine washable and can go in the tumble dryer.

I knitted this blanket for my first GC. He is now 3 and still has his blanket but it is looking very flat worse for wear. I used Sirdar Baby Blossom chunky for that blanket.

I was hoping to find something that would be durable but soft.

Hope you can help. TIA

Do you mean wool or are you including synthetics in that?

Sirdar Baby Blossom is an acrylic nylon blend. That only looks to be available in multi-colour yarn.

YarnSub say that Rico Design Basic Acrylic Chunky, Cygnet Acrylic Chunky and King Cole Big Value Chunky (available in Baby) are excellent matches with Stylecraft Special Chunky as a good match. Take a look at this:

My favourite machine-washable wool is Cascade Superwash which comes in various weights. Buy from Wool Warehouse.

Thanks Caravansera. Sorry, I wasn't specifically meaning 100% wool. I should have said yarn smile

The previous image is not from the actual blanket I made. It is from the original pattern.

The Baby Blossom yarn is multicoloured. It knits up like fair isle for about 20% of the wool. The rest is plain, if that makes sense. Image from internet.

I will have a look at the Cascade Superwash.

Thanks.

I used Vintage by Berroco for a baby blanket, and it was nice yarn. 40% wool, 50%Acrylic, 10%nylon. It washes up well and holds it's shape after washing. it is worsted weight, but comes in bulky as well.

King Cole yarns wash well

Thanks everyone.

I have been looking at Debbie Bliss and James Brett yarn as they both do one with merino in it.

Wil do more investigating this weekend.
