Slight masking fluid disaster....

So, today my new bottle of masking fluid arrived. I'd run out and had been eagerly awaiting it. Full of enthusiasm, I sat at my easel, picked up the bottle, opened it.......and promptly dropped it! I now have just a third of a bottle of MF, and a pair of totally ruined joggers plus t-shirt (unless the lighter fluid hint I've been given works). Plus, my living room carpet is decidedly...er...spotty. If anyone here knows how to removed dried masking fluid from clothing and carpet, I'd be extremely happy, otherwise I think I have yet another set of painting/decorating clothes, and a good excuse for a new living room carpet..... hmm

Have you tried using a dry nail brush to scrub it then vac up the bits .

I used to use masking fluid a lot. I would put the item in a bag in your freezer overnight. It might just rub/roll off tomorrow.

That's an idea, thank you! I have a carpet comb (very short bristles, designed to lift pet hair), which I thought might work but I've obviously put it somewhere safe.... So I'll give the mark brush a go. If I can find one! grin

I hadn't thought of that! I've used that trick successfully with dried chewing gum on kids clothes, but it's been a fair few years since I've needed it and it had completely slipped my mind. Thank you!
