I think the 135 is wrong, and it should be 119 for the 3 largest sizes.

I thought that, but size 4 would be out then. For that size you cast on 123 and end up with 111.

Yes, the marker is just that, a little piece of wool between the stitches in a different colour to show the different sections. I use a length of wool of about four inches . I see no other problem for this pattern. Good luck.

The problem is that you cast on 135, and should end up with 119 without decreasing any grin

The cast on row seems to have some incorrect numbers.
If you read that sizes 1,2 and 3 have 103 stitches, 4,5 And 6 have 111 stitches, and 7, 8 and 9 have 119 stitches - that makes more sense, in that there are 3 different sizes ( small, medium, large?), and each size increases by 8 stitches.
Does the next row of the pattern match the 3 numbers of stitches in the marker placing row? ( ie if you are doing size 7, that makes it 119 stitches )
Sorry, this is really confusing. There does seem to be a typo in the first cast on row.

Phew! I thought I was going mad grin.

The next 21 or so rows are not stitch counted - they just ask you to knot to marker etc, and the next time stitches are mentioned is at the end of the short rows, when they are as per the screenshot.

It doesn't make sense to me either. It says cast on 135 sts and knit a row placing markers. No instructions to decrease to 119 sts. Bonkers!

Just calculated the size 7 and the count seems right = 119

Yes, I know. The numbers between the markers add up to 119, but I have cast on 135 as per the instructions, so I can't end up with 119, unless I have misunderstood altogether, which I don't think I have grin.

Doodledog you are counting pm as a stitch? Excluding pms and it works perfectly.

I think boz is saying the same thing as me.

I may be completely wrong but over the years I have attempted knitting patterns in varying languages from different countries. I think that the instruction pm means insert a marker. (I have used a loop of a different colour for this in the past). Would it make sense to insert a marker where it says pm. The marker is never knitted in, just moved up in situ.

Excluding markers 12+2+19+2+33+2+19+2+12 =103.
Where is the problem.

Doodledog Thu 23-Nov-23 17:30:17

It doesn't matter though - they all seem wrong, apart from the first 2 sizes.

Doodledog Thu 23-Nov-23 17:29:25

Size 7. As the last 4 sizes have the same number of stitches, I was going to see how big it looked and possibly size up or down later.

LindaPat Thu 23-Nov-23 17:28:41

Hi Doodledog - which size are you knitting?

ronib Thu 23-Nov-23 17:27:25

What size are you knitting?

Doodledog Thu 23-Nov-23 17:27:02

Thanks for looking.

I think it must be a typo, but I don't know how to fudge it right at the start of the pattern.

LadyGracie Thu 23-Nov-23 17:24:32

Sorry I can't help, it doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Doodledog Thu 23-Nov-23 17:09:27

I have cast on to make a jumper, and am confused on row 1 grin

The first row is just to set up the markers, as the pattern is top down and you need to mark the front, back and sleeve stitches, but the finished stitch counts don't match the cast-on numbers.

I am tired, so may be missing something, but I can't make it make sense. Can anyone help, please?
