To find stencils, you need to turn to online stores of craft supplies and art materials. It is also worth turning to specialized stores and websites offering products for decoration and handicrafts. As for finding active forums, try finding artist and craft communities on websites dedicated to specific arts or crafts, and use social media sites like Instagram and Pinterest to find community and inspiration.

I must tell DD. She is very artistic, I'm sure her hens would love a decorated picnic table 😁

My brother and sister in law have chickens on their allotment. It a very large pen a their house is called an eggloo. The cockerel is Walter his ladies are Winona ,Wilma,Wendy and Wendy 2 as they are identical. Walter is from another member of the allotment he told me sister in law to choose which of his 3 she wanted. The ladies are rescue chickens. They have that many eggs give lot away. Hopefully when I go for a visit later in the year I will be bringing some home. They have proper water thingy ,food in a feeder plus food on the ground and they eat some of there allotment.produce . My brother dug deep footings for the cage so the wire is deep and fox proof. Where they have there allotment they see a lot of hares and muntjac deer eat their mange tout and gooseberries.

Maybe for a child , who has pet chickens .
In the past , my daughter has decorated rabbit hunches for little girls .

Why does anyone need a table to feed chickens?

Su22 Sun 14-Apr-24 09:15:07

I think the OP means these are mini tables to put the chicken's food on we have someone who makes them locally here they are very popular. They are like a mini picnic table which you put the corn etc for the chickens to feed on. Apologise if I am wrong.

I don’t think this is ‘gonna sell well’. Strange idea.

Hallo Toonces ,
I think that you are in the US .
I always envy my American friends , because they seem to have a huge choice of things , which we can't obtain here !
I've done a lot of stencilling in the past .It was very fashionable to put it on walls and furniture . My favourite stencils are very expensive .
Recently , I've found a huge range available at a reasonable price on Amazon here .
You can make your own designs as well .
Perhaps an artistic friend can make a stencil for you in exchange for something you make .

I tend to paint things free hand . If it's a subject , with which I'm not that familiar I have a few attempts on paper .
If you use acrylic paint - you can go over many times .

Whiff is right -chickens will peck off designs so a protective coating is needed .

Can you start your own your own craft forum ?
Wishing you lots of luck .

A strange post from the USA?

I purchased all mine from Amazon uk. There were about 15 different plastic sheets in the pack and I used them to create borders along the inside of the front and back porches.

Have you looked on Etsy? If you don't find what you need exactly get in touch with the seller lot make things to order . Is there an art school or college near to where you live if so you could ask to put up a poster asking if any students could supply what you need. Also screen printing companies may have what you need and would design what you need as they work in various colours. But they would be expensive from them . You could look at art magazines for ideas how to make your own ? Have you got a friend or relative who is an artist they could draw the designs you want as you art a woodworker perhaps you could then cut the design from thick plastic sheets one design for each colour need do one colour at a time let it dry them place next design ready for colour and build it up. You would need to make sure the stencil are very clean . What paint where you thinking of using and would you need to apply clear varnish to the finished piece to protect the work.

Also have you thought that the chickens may peck off the design as they peck at anything especially if they like the look of it or don't know what it is.

Hey art friends. I'm a woodworker who's about to begin production line style production of a small picnic table I designed to be a chicken feeder. I call it the chicknic table. It's crazy cute and is gonna sell pretty well I'm thinking. My mom told me there are really nice stencils out there now that will let us (fairly non artistic people) create some really nice designs on my pieces like small flowers or whatever. She said using the type of stencil she saw included making the image in stages according to how many different colors are in the image.

I'm looking for fairly small stencils as the areas on my piece we'll be adding some flair to measure 1-1/4 in (30mm) tall and anywhere between 3-17 in (75-400) long. It'd be nice to find a stencil that was a long column of maybe flowers on a vine that was 3/4 in (18mm) tall.

I haven't started searching for stencils yet because I thought I'd start with the people who would know, folks on craft forums.

So question 1...any suggestion as to where I should look to find stencils like I'm describing. I'm not even sure what they're called so knowing that would help in my future searches.

Question 2...Why haven't I found any really large forums by doing a google search. I would think 'arts and crafts forums' search would have brought up some really active boards. Instead I've found a mish mash of good boards but not nearly as robust and active as I had imagined. Any suggestions for other active arts and crafts forums?

I'm all ears! Thanks everybody.
