The new series starts on Tuesday 21st May at 9 pm so I'm looking forward to some wonderful sewing again.

The new presenter Kiell is also back to replace Sara Pascoe.

There's a video of her wearing it on YouTube and her waist is still tiny. The bodice is boned but she must be naturally small or she wouldn't be able to breathe! She made the hat too

Callistemon213 Sat 29-Jun-24 10:17:52

It's amazing, isn't it Sarnia.

Is her waist that tiny or is there an inbuilt corset, I wonder? And breathe!

It certainly wasn't cobbled together in three hours as on the Sewing Bee!

The dress was made by a sixth former at a school in Gloucestershire. She has reached the finals of the Junk Kouture competition.
Junk Kouture is the world's largest youth sustainable fashion competition that challenges young people between the ages of 12 to 19 to create wearable art out of 100% recyclable materials.

The dress is made out of redundant vertical window blinds from her classroom.

Ingenious. I will keep an eye out for this competition. I would like to know what outfits the other finalists have made. This dress will take some beating.

AreWeThereYet

^ an engineer who made the most spectacular kilt. All the tartan lined up on the pleats and even Patrick said he would be proud to wear it. ^

He was an Army officer (Neil? Nigel? can't remember). He did some great stuff and some dire stuff - remember the silver shorts with straps down to gaiter type things in the transformation round? ๐Ÿ˜…

grin I must have missed those shorts! Sounds something a bondage fan might wear grin

Esme Young would love this dress and also the ingenuity that has gone into the idea and final product. Still don't know what the material is though. Esme liked to push the boundaries in her Swanky Modes days. I wonder what she privately thinks of the standard this series. I cannot remember his name but the contestant who stood out to me was an engineer who made the most spectacular kilt. All the tartan lined up on the pleats and even Patrick said he would be proud to wear it. Nobody of his standard this time around.

I'll be back to find what the amazing blue dress is made from! I haven't a clue......confused

I have a feeling Susie is on there to promote some sort of designer clothes business. The trouble is if she's sewing the things I wouldn't want one.

Sparklefizz Fri 28-Jun-24 09:41:48

Re Bee, I thought Suzy looked like she was wearing a recycled floor mop dyed red for that cardigan. Ridiculous and I'm surprised it didn't get trapped in the sewing machine.

Sparklefizz Fri 28-Jun-24 09:39:15

Callistemon Love that dress. Saw it on the News. That young girl deserves to go far as a designer. I know what it's made of so won't do a big reveal.

Have just watched this Tuesday episode, oh dear, although loved the crocodile, but no really oustanding sewing skills, I thought Susie would go,let's see what next week brings, but who sews their own bras and pants ๐Ÿ˜‚ .

I think there is a Gransnetter who said she does. They will be unique ๐Ÿ™‚

It will be interesting, that's for sure.

Iโ€™ve cheated and gone to have a look ๐Ÿ˜‚Her waist is soo tiny.

Whethertomorrow

I know all about it but I wonโ€™t tell in case you decide itโ€™s cheating and not research. ๐Ÿคฃ

I saw this some of this Callistemon but I missed the first part. I can only guess it was made of something to do with what her earrings and necklace were made of.

I think the dress some sort of satin, the overskirt video tapes.
The lady who made those fantastic trousers seems to be most consistent and follows instructions, others don't and some the finished items not good.

BlueBelle Fri 28-Jun-24 05:14:57

I d go for paper too is it on a doll surely no one has a waist like that ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
Is Susie the one with the wool necklace thingy ?

I think Esmies been like that some time I remember us talking about her health on here in one of the past series

grannydarkhair Fri 28-Jun-24 03:51:01

Callistemon213 I think itโ€™s possibly/probably paper like Sarnia suggested. Itโ€™s lovely whatever itโ€™s made from.

Sarnia Fri 28-Jun-24 02:02:29

Callistemon213 I will have a guess at paper. The cut outs on the overskirt remind me of the paper dressing up dolls of my childhood. Plastic bottles can also be recycled into clothing, so possibly that. I am doubtless wide of the mark. It's very impactful whatever it is.

Callistemon213 Thu 27-Jun-24 22:49:13

Any more guesses? On a postcard to arrive by the closing date which is probably tomorrow.

Maggiemaybe Thu 27-Jun-24 22:37:56

I once had a go at making myself some French knickers in brown satin, but I donโ€™t think I ever finished them. It was a long time ago. They could well still be in my rag bag, but I doubt theyโ€™d fit me now. grin

That dress is very impressive, Callistemon, but I canโ€™t even hazard a guess as to what itโ€™s made from.
