Free pattern from Let’s Knit Together - if you subscribe, which I don’t.
I can’t think the Gdcs would be very impressed - apart from the pumpkin she looks more like an oddly coloured Little Red Riding Hood!

Probbly made to look cute because a nasty one might frighten a child and their parents would sue.

Grandmabatty Sat 28-Sept-24 12:11:25

I think it's really cute

Maggiemaybe Sat 28-Sept-24 12:20:08

I do too. Just right for a toddler before they get into the scary stuff.

Not that I can knit, but I think you could "witchify" her.
What self respecting witch would wear anything other than black? (In fairy tales, at least)

Yes, I’d definitely witch-ify her!
I once made 2 seriously witchy witches - green faces and big lumpy noses! - to go on a Halloween wreath for the Gdcs.

smile
You're very clever.
I'd like to make things like that, if I could.

I think that you little witch is beautiful and not frightening for children .
It reminds me of the Easter witches which are popular in Sweden and Finland .
Witches there just aren't scary .
They don't have to be !

MissAdventure Fri 11-Oct-24 08:20:43

She reminds me of Mavis the witch from 'Willo the whisp', which I loved.

Miss A that takes me back. Not old enough to remember Muffin the mule but do remember Andy Pandy ,Wooden tops ,Bill and Ben ,Magic roundabout ,Crystal tips and Alastair, loved the Herbs and Bagpuss have seen knitting patterns for him .

MissAdventure Fri 11-Oct-24 09:39:21

I think Willo the Whisp was when my daughter was a young teen, or around that age.
We used to love 'Trapdoor', too.

Going back, do you remember Pogles Wood, and Busy Lizzie? smile

I would imagine it is aimed at very young children so why would anyone want a really scary witch for a toddler. This gives them the chance to join in without scaring them. Perfect.

MissAdventure Fri 11-Oct-24 09:40:45

And Hector's House!!

I did love the Herbs.

NotSpaghetti Fri 11-Oct-24 10:28:13

"Winnie the Witch" was multicoloured.
I loved those stories.

MissAdventure Fri 11-Oct-24 11:06:30

I think I may have missed out on Winnie.
I can't quite believe I haven't read anything about her...
I loved witches and fairies and magic, too.

NotSpaghetti Fri 11-Oct-24 11:18:17

They were by Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul did the illustrations.

Really lovely. Her big cat is called Wilbur and in one story (think it was the first) he suffers the indignity of becoming multicoloured so she doesn't trip over him in her black house.

They were bought for my youngest children so I'm guessing published in the mid 1980s.

I was only thinking this morning how much my youngest grandchildren would like them.

lixy Fri 11-Oct-24 11:18:56

Love your non-witch witch - has the pointy hat so is just great.

Winnie the Witch was my ‘fancy dress’ for world book day most years, though I never did manage to walk in shoes like hers. Fabulous stories.

AGAA4 Fri 11-Oct-24 15:50:14

A witch less scary. Much better for young children who may be upset by a hideous looking witch. I like your witch.

Just change the colours and give her a snarl as apposed to a smile.......sorted

Desdemona Fri 11-Oct-24 15:56:14

Give the witch black hair and a few woolly warts and jobs-a-gud
-un!

Iam64 Fri 11-Oct-24 16:03:07

My 5 year old grandson almost ran off when a skeleton standing near the door at Costco leaned over him 😵‍💫

Allira Fri 11-Oct-24 16:06:48

I think she's really cute.

She could be The Worst Witch, Mildred Hubble!

whywhywhy Sat 12-Oct-24 11:33:22

I love it and I know my grandkids would too. You are very talented.
Has anyone seen PurplePixie lately?

Ali08 Sun 13-Oct-24 11:08:35

It's so cute. You could easily make it black.

DeeDe Sun 13-Oct-24 11:21:15

Don’t do Halloween…what’s fun about death ?
It’s totally sick! People are so easily brainwashed …
