Has anyone tried it? There are some lovely cards and pictures that can be made.

What - with real diamonds? 😯

ViceVersa Wed 12-Mar-25 14:53:03

No, it's like a cross between painting by numbers and mosaics, except you stick 'gems' onto a pre-printed canvas.

There is one lady I know of, she posts in Soops kitchen who has done it brilliantly YiaYia

You can't beat the artist Anselm Keifer who uses real diamonds..

His show along with Van Gogh is coming to the Tate in the summer

DGD (11) was given a kit for Christmas a couple of years ago and she and DD enjoyed it.

I know someone who gifted their young niece a kids version and it was fantastic. It had wristbands and a purse to decorate with the gems and it looked easy and relaxing. The gems looked like they wouldn't stay on but they did. I might get myself a set.

@Crazy Cattle 3D Yes, I’ve tried Diamond Art! I got hooked during a rainy weekend and ended up finishing a whole sunflower piece in two days. I remember losing track of time, just zoning out with some music in the background and that satisfying click every time a gem snapped into place. It’s super relaxing, kind of like meditation but with sparkles.

I totally understand that Curve Rush feeling of "losing track of time". The soothing music and the gentle "click" sound of each stone being placed in the right place definitely creates a wonderfully calm and relaxing atmosphere. You have captured the essence of Diamond Art: a form of "sparkling meditation" that is full of fun.

My 8 year old Granddaughter is a big fan she spent ages doing it this Easter weekend.

I made some Christmas tree decorations, was very pleased with them and it was so relaxing.

I've done a few different items but I recommend Craft Buddy especially if you are going to do a wall hanging , as Craft Buddy's are already stretched and mounted ready to hang and with Diamond Art you have to get them mounted yourself. I've done some lovely things , especially Christmas cards. Very relaxing.

Yes, many people have tried Diamond Art (also known as Diamond Painting) and it's become a very popular hobby worldwide just like Poe 2 currency ingame! It's a relaxing and creative activity where you place tiny resin "diamonds" onto a sticky canvas to create a sparkling picture — kind of like paint-by-numbers but with gems.

I have never heard of Craft Buddy. They have some nice items.

I’ve done a few! It’s kind of like a little meditation for me — I put on some music, make a pot of tea, and just lose myself in placing the diamonds. So calming. 🌸✨

My oldest child does this to her book covers. She spends hours placing each tiny diamond on every color on the cover.

She has over 200 books on her shelf, though she hasn't done them all.

I am too impatient.

I've just bought my first kit so I'm pleased to see the positive comments on here. I bought a small one just to have a go. Hopefully if it's a success I'll move on to a more expensive one.

I much prefer a length of fabric, scissors, pins and my wild imagination.

I have recently made some coasters and they are great, we use them. Going to make more for family.

I haven't tried it yet, but those cards and pictures look really inspiring! I'm thinking of giving it a go this weekend. Maybe I'll even experiment with some mixed media techniques. I know my niece loves anything sparkly and colorful, so creating something for her might be a good starting point. Hopefully, it won't be a total Sprunki disaster and I can actually make something presentable! Thanks for sharing!
