Crossstitchfan - I’ll always read your interesting posts. We are never all going to get alone. We are only human after all. Take care and have a lovely day.

I record the program and watch later so I'm able to fast forward the cringey first part. I've gone right off Esme, she's always had favourites but it's never been so obvious before that she's picking on certain contestants. Kit irritates with his smugness but he is skilful and helpful to the other sewers which is a generous trait, and I think Esme wants him to win. His pattern challenge wouldn't be wearable because of the top stitching, totally off brief which has been penalised in others before. His made to measure was a good costume but definitely not 'made to measure'.
Esme has picked on every little fault of Gaynor the entire series. I'm sure she knew which was Gaynor's in the transformation challenge. Patrick liked it and complimented many features but for Esme it was 'too mumsy'. This is a criticism she often uses, said by the woman who wears shapeless dresses and flat shoes every week! I think she has the final say in the judging, hence why Orla had to share garment of the week with Kit, when Orla's was actually 'made to measure' and fitted to her model.

I got out my sewing machine yesterday hooray!
There is absolutely no way anyone should be able to follow a pattern and make a lined dolman jacket in was it 4 hours? It takes me that long to read a pattern which clearly some of our sewers didn't. 😅😂

Thank you BlueBelle for your support

Allsorts

Omg, sone people must scrutinise each post waiting to pounce. Take no notice.
I think Kit is excellent but the winner tonight was the horror little girl look, that was unique and scary. I love the programme all the contestants have been lovely, they are all somtalented.

Not a fan of Sarah I don't find heramusing just irritating, but Alison would be worse, so loud. I have been trying to think who would be good and I can't.

Thank you Allsorts! ( I hope I’m right in assuming you were talking to me?)

BlueBelle Wed 03-Sept-25 22:35:11

Well I like Alison I like her outgoing personality but I don’t see any need for any (middle) person I think they’ve all been a waste of space apart from Claudia

Don’t worry Crosstitchfan just keep posting away

What I truly dislike is the first five minutes when Esmee and Patrick try to be funny and it’s so cringy you feel like turning your face away and your fingers in your ears

I hope Orla wins she’s such a pleasant lady and very very talented

Allira Wed 03-Sept-25 22:27:38

but Alison would be worse, so loud Yes, she is!
Please no! 😫

I’ve never criticised what you have said before Crosstitchfan, it just grated when you said that you wished she would take maternity leave, without thinking about it first. She has been very open about just how difficult she found the fertility struggle she had. I don’t want to cause a row, just to show her some empathy.

Had I known about her sad situation, I certainly wouldn’t have said what I said. I didn’t, hence the slip up.
I think I am going to have to stop passing comment on Gransnet except in very safe situations. I keep putting my foot in it, even though I have no idea I am doing so.
If it’s any consolation, when I am being pulled up on things I say, I find this hurtful, especially when I see others doing similar, but not getting chastised for it. It seems I can’t do right for doing wrong, and that hurts.

BlueBelle Wed 03-Sept-25 21:45:20

Kit doesn’t appeal to me I think he’s a bit smug but he’s obviously a talented sewer
I want Orla to win I like what she makes and I like her personality I also like Caz she’s a bit whacky but a fun person and a good sewer
But I expect Kit will win

Dottydots Wed 03-Sept-25 19:01:52

If only I were younger I'd like to make Kit my best friend. Just think of the lovely outfits he could make for me.

Eloethan Wed 03-Sept-25 18:24:46

I think the remark about obligatory gays was nasty and not even true - several of the gay sewers have made some really good outfits.

I don't really blame any of the presenters for being irritating (which most of them are). It is the determination of the producer to introduce a comedy element which doesn't really work and is so unnecessary.

Parsley3, Sarah Pascoe has been on maternity leave. I wondered if she felt more comfortable in a loose garment!
I loved the dress the Welsh lady made, but it was in completely the wrong material. You can’t make nice pleats with a thin denim, and it was in a wishy-washy colour.

With a bit of luck, she might have more children, therefore more Maternity leave. Can’t stand the woman! Why are good programmes so often ruined by rubbish presenters who are irritating, inept or just out of place?

That’s mean, even if you don’t like her. I listened to her being interviewed the other week, and she has struggled for years to have children, needing fertility treatment to have the two she now has in her forties, both IVF babies.

Out of the presenters of the Sewing Bee, she's less annoying than some.
I think it's the producers who set this up, not the presenters.

My last message was to Casdon

Crossstitchfan Wed 03-Sept-25 14:50:06

Oh for goodness’ sake! At the moment, I don’t seem to be able to say anything on Gransnet without being shouted down! There is always someone who jumps out if the woodwork and has a go and I am fed up with it! Especially as my comment was not meant to be unkind in the way you think. I am allowed to dislike a presenter, and say so. Others do just that, and some of them quite spitefully, but don’t get shouted down for it. What have I done to deserve the criticism I am getting at the moment?
As for her problems with conceiving, , I knew nothing about that and my comment was not meant to be mean. I would never wish that situation on anyone.

MollyNew Wed 03-Sept-25 14:49:26

I enjoyed Movie week, particuarly Orla's made to measure. Caz is very imaginative too. Kit obviously has a natural talent for sewing and should win although Sarah Pascoe was on Radio 2 at the weekend and said there are still some twists and turns to come.

I like Sarah Pascoe, she comes across as a warm, friendly person. I prefer her low key style to 'look at me' Alison Hammond on the Bake Off with her raucous laughter.

Kit helping the others with the Hitchcock jacket - bless him

Yes, he is a sweetie.
I think he'll win!

No Allira. The nice and/or deserving ones seldom do, more’s the pity!

I think I’d go for Orla to make an outfit for me, she sews well, and she’s really good at producing wearable end results, quirky but not way out.

Allira Wed 03-Sept-25 13:43:37

If ever I want someone to make me an outfit, I'll choose Gaynor!

JamesandJon33 Wed 03-Sept-25 13:34:46

Although I applaud the artistry in Kit’s work, I find him a bit smug .

^Kit to win the whole thing! He’s adorable and he helps others^.

Yes, he is but that's not a good enough reason to win a sewing competition!

Ok, he deserves to win because he is good at it and very adventurous and inventive. To make an outfit out of crepe paper as he did the other week takes some doing.

Caz has got better and I think along with Orla and Kit they will be the last three standing.

Parsley3 Wed 03-Sept-25 13:28:10

I am leaning towards Caz to win.
