It's back!

Starting on Tuesday 15th July at 9 pm.

Chardy Wed 23-Jul-25 18:53:41

Sarnia

I was initially surprised at Peter being sent home but he refused any advice and the finished garment was nowhere near fitting the model.
Although this is a competition, all the contestants' say they have learned so much just by being on the show. Peter obviously thought he knew it all.

When the judges talked to him during the 4.5 hours, he seemed cavalier ignored their advice and then messed up. But he got garment of the week last week! Don't irritate the judges!!

Caps - they were 4th & 2nd
Transformation - 12th & 7th

The judges didn't seem to like Peter and Esme was snippy with him.
Maybe he was too cocky off camera?

I do enjoy the show and am amazed by the skills and speed of these "amateur" sewers. I must hurry up and finish the pyjamas I began in February. 😂🤣😅

Peter did so well with his fabulous dress last week and getting Garment of the Week.

This week he seemed not to be bothered about any of it ... as Chardy says, he seemed cavalier and ignored all advice.
We have seen this in previous series when sewers ignore the brief and do their own thing. It never ends well.

Peter did say, more than once, that he hadn't practised the outfit and was making it up as he went along. Unfortunately, he wasn't a good enough sewer to get away with that. I am looking forward to next week's show but I wish there were not so many "previews" of the finished garments. I want to be surprised.

I always record it Parsley and fast forward those bits!

Parsley3 Thu 24-Jul-25 11:14:37

Good idea.

Is everyone so disillusioned with GBSB that we can't be bothered to chat about last Tuesday's episode?
I recorded it and had it on in the background on Wednesday morning in my sewing room. But, for the life of me, I can't remember any of it. Must be my age!
I remember thinking that the sewers are starting to show their skills, and the less able are being weeded out.

It wasn't really my sort of sewing tbh so I lost a bit of interest after the wrap dresses.

twinnytwin Tue 05-Aug-25 10:26:05

Wrap dresses - that was it. Let's hope next week's episode is more inspiring.

Well, I'm not sure the right person went home this week. This person was in the bottom two imo, but thought they redeemed themselves somewhat in the made-to-measure, whereas the other one was a disaster.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 05-Aug-25 22:23:29

I found her a tad annoying so I’m glad she’s gone. She never finished anything. The other person finished, although his garment would have looked good as part of Santa’s Grotto.

Allira Tue 05-Aug-25 22:24:34

Yes, and what was it with that hat? 🤔

I thought that the addition of the Korean designer gave the show a new dimension tonight. It made Patrick seem a bit boring, and dare I say scruffy - not his usual self somehow.

escaped Tue 05-Aug-25 22:36:57

I think they should have more guest judges.

BlueBelle Wed 06-Aug-25 04:21:52

Why do Patrick and Esme ‘try’ to be funny it’s really cringy the pretend gangman style dance at the beginning was awful

I definitely think the right person went home neither the lady or her work appealed to me
I thought the guy with the awful Christmas type elf suit was pretty awful too

Luckygirl3 Wed 06-Aug-25 07:19:44

Wht indeed do they do all this silly stuff? Not needed.
I thought elf man should have gone home.

I just love the sewing bee, especially the models young and not so young walking up the catwalk displaying all sorts of brilliant garments it reminds me of my sewing days so long ago pre stroke
when I was training to be a nursery nurse we had to make a young girls dress -I so enjoyed those days

Sarnia Wed 06-Aug-25 10:42:32

I was disappointed with garment of the week. Caz, please stop scratching your head, went off on a tangent again and added awful neon lace to her design. I thought it looked dreadful.
I would have liked Imogen to win. Her cheollik (had to look it up grin) was very well sewn and she was delighted to have finished it in the time.
Kit is very talented and is appearing as the front runner at the moment.
Novello deserved to go.

Athrawes Wed 06-Aug-25 10:45:08

I love this programme. I'm a useless sewer and am amazed how they can make something [even weird things!!!] in such a short space of time. It took me over a school year to make an apron!!!

twinnytwin Wed 06-Aug-25 15:36:52

Just watched this episode and really enjoyed the guest judge being included. I've had lots of inspiration for adding pleats to basic dresses. I thought the final decisions about GOTW and who went home were the right ones.

Treebee Wed 06-Aug-25 19:15:47

Kit did so well last night; I enjoyed the South Korean theme. Gaynor’s show stopper dress was beautiful, wish it was available to buy.
