I am pleased that Dan won this week. He won the pattern challenge and his final garment was very wearable. Kit is very talented and has only been keen on sewing for just over a year. Overall, Jess has had more lower placings than Gaynor and Patrick said he knew Gaynor could do better so perhaps that's why Jess went home this week instead of Gaynor but it was a close call.
Esme Young may be deemed past it by some on here but she has enormous experience of the textile and design industry so a bit of respect for Esme please.

Esme Young is a designer, costume maker, has designed costumes for famous films, founded her own fashion firm and lectures still in fashion and design.

I think she knows what she's talking about, as does Patrick.

I really like Esme. She has a wealth of experience and copes well with a hearing impairment which probably a lot of people don't realise.

There isn't a lot I like to watch on tv, but the Sewing Bee gets a gold star from me.

Ha ha just read it back, I'm a poet and didn't know it!

Oh for Heavens sake !! The Comedy aspect is just a small bit over all the serious pieces ... I love the programme and wish everyone well ...

Sorry to see Dan go, but he did take on too much in the final task.
Caz's Zandra Rhodes's outfit was amazing!

Thank goodness they did not send Gaynor home - I thought her final piece was beautiful. Not such an easy make with stretch fabric onto non-stretch and it was made impeccably.

What is wrong with simple, skillfully executed? Gets my vote any day.

I agree and think Dan just had too much to do in the time allowed.

Nothing. It's better than being over-ambitious and failing.

I did think Gaynor could perhaps have made some daisies as decoration around the neck or on the bodice as she finished the task so early.

Dan deserved to go tonight. Gaynor may have made a much simpler dress in the final challenge but they were asked to sew an outfit showing what they wanted to be when they were small and that's what she did. I thought it was beautiful, especially the skirt.
Gaynor might struggle with ideas next week with the theme on art.

Love the programme and thought the decision was spot on with Dan going home.

The right decision was made last night that Dan should go. He had a bad week. Caz was lucky with her made to measure as her earlier two rounds were poor. I thought Gaynor's dress was lovely and fitted the brief.

Real good mix of talent in this bunch, one week your a outstanding winner then home the next. Dan blew it this week but Cas was looking dodgy prior that last "Zandra Rhodes" outfit, which was stunning, so glad she got through.
Think Gaynor will be next, she's good but lacks the imagination to go much further.

They are a good bunch. Gaynor is a very skilful sewer but she doesn't push herself out of her comfort zone when it comes to being creative. Her simple costume was just that, simple. Caz is streets ahead when it comes to creativity and the judges do want to see something original and well executed. I am really enjoying this series.

I wonder if it's Gaynor's age. I have noticed before when there is someone in the 65+ age range that they struggle with being timed. They are very likely retired or have more time on their hands than the younger contestants so don't have to sew against the clock. Often their minds don't conjure up the quirky side of fashion. They are used to classic lines. That apart they are often excellent sewers with an eye to detail.

I think it will be between Caz and Kit, although Yasmin is doing well too.

The brief ( as we heard it) was to make a fancy dress costume for a child inspired by who or what they wanted to be when they were young. Gaynor’s garment was simple but it was beautifully sewn. She met the brief as described so I was shocked to hear Patrick suggest she was in danger of being eliminated.

Series by series, I am growing increasingly tired of the emphasis on “creativity” (which is often code for weird and unwearable) and speed over good sewing.

I long for return to series one when the fabulous Ann won it. She was never very adventurous but her planning and sewing were meticulous.

For all the programme (especially Grant) bangs on about sustainability and waste it seems to think nothing of perfectly good clothes being chopped up to make rushed, silly things that are only fit the bin.

I much preferred BBC Northern Ireland’s A Stitch Through Time in 2023. No silliness, just grown-up, thoughful design and sewing.

All in all, I think Sewing Bee has been reduced to just another of the many gameshows that the BBC seems obsessed with. Bring back May Martin.

It did seem daft that the 2 most likely to go home were beautifully sewn but not demanding enough and very demanding but not well sewn.
DD, who doesn't watch, didn't understand why Dan didn't have a cardboard shirt front already made. He knew he wouldn't have enough time!!

I think that Kit's Elton John costume was just a pair of dungarees with a ready made top - so presumably Dan could have used a ready made shirt and concentrated on the jacket
