Socks for my take-out knitting and indoors a large-size gansey

The wool for the gansey is on cones, frangipani in damson, it is lovely wool, very warm but needs something underneath when wearing ie shirt or shirt

The socks are generally vanilla socks with perhaps ribbing, always top-down for me and worked on a combination of circular needles and dpns when turning the heel and shaping the toe

I bought this yarn some while ago and DD1 was going to knit me a cardigan out of it. She had begun it before she died and got quite a way with it but it was turning out too small. I am small but I like my cardigans and jumpers to be roomy.

Anyway, I brought it all home with the rest of her stash and half finished articles, rattled it down and re-wound it into balls and I'm now knitting it to a different pattern. It will take me a while...

I’ve just started a sweater for myself and I will keep you posted on the progress. The yarn is from my stash and its chunky.

I have been dying to say this for weeks . The only thing on my needles is insuline .

Knit very slowly, Merlotgran - sounds like a trap!
Brilliant idea Allira which should allow you to recline indefinitely.😉
What talented people. Shysal’s wreath is fabulous. And Primrose’s crochet is extraordinary…..the colours, the detail and precision. Thanks for sharing!

😁

Actually, another blanket, using my stash.
The Sweet Blossom blanket but in slightly different colours.

This sweater by Rowan, in the same dark green yarn as in the model. I really like knitting with this yarn, alpaca and cotton mix.

I'm 3/4 the way down the body and thought I should do the sleeves in case I'm close on the amount of yarn. The sweater is quite long on the pattern, so I may shorten it a bit to just hit the top of my hip.

Primrose53 your eye for colour combinations is fabulous. Very talented people on this thread.
On my needles - a simple little cross-body throw for a shepherd I'm working on for a church nativity scene.

Minimoon I love your red cardigan. I'd love one of those myself but I haven't yet mastered the art of crochet, although your cardigan inspires me to keep trying.

A white blanket for a Memory Box for a family who have lost a baby - it’s part of the SANDS charity knitting challenge. 💕

The first of a pair of woollen socks in three plain, to purl rib, until I get to the heel, whereafter the heel and sole will be in garter stich and the front of the foot in rib until I start the toe.

I really ought to start a doll's jumper soon, too.

There’s nothing exciting on my needles just chunky knit beanies à la Claudia on the Traitors. I’m beginning to dread the messenger pinging every time an episode airs.

‘Ooh Granny. I love her…..’

The latest is a Roll up, knit down jumper. They can dream. 😂

AmberGran Fri 09-Jan-26 18:20:26

So many beautiful things. You are all brilliant.

Both are really lovely Mini and Prim

A blue and white striped worry-eating monkey’s ‘arm’. Eventually destined, with matching hand puppet, for Knit for Nowt.

Crocheting octagons for a throw. Pattern by Jane Crowfoot or Janie Crowe as she now calls herself. Persian Tiles. My own colourway. They are approx 12” across.

They really are exquisite. Your final throw will look gorgeous.

Thanks very much. I made one about 10 years ago in different colours. Here it is.

A triangular shawl for my granddaughter in a red, green, white and silver sparkle yarn.

This was my post last October.
I lost a lot of time last autumn as we had a crisis with Dad; he ended up in hospital, then a care home, then we moved him to a different care home.
However my granddaughter has been very patient! She's seen the work in progress and knows she will get her shawl when it's a good size. So I'm carrying on...

V3ra Fri 09-Jan-26 16:09:38

MiniMoon that's really pretty 😊

MiniMoon Fri 09-Jan-26 15:26:08

Do you remember me saying I didn't know what to do with the red wool left over from crocheting the poppies.
Well I crocheted myself a cardigan for Spring.

I have made 9 pairs of socks with lovely regia 6ply yarn, they are beautiful, they settle after washing, machine wool wash and hovering over with a steam iron, just patting down with hands, to block. All are presents, everyone wanted a pair. I can now knit any size without a pattern but use a socker ruler for foot length

I easily had 2 pairs from 2 balls, including big size 12. I am making myself a pair from a leftover set of yarn, so generally 3 pairs from 2 balls, mine will have shorter legs to ensure I don`t run out of yarn

Next planned make is sleeve-less by Lone Kjeldsen, one for me and one for a dil. I have made the swatch, perfect gauge on 3.5mm

Just started this knitted wreath. I hope to complete it within a couple of weeks, but it may have to be for next year!

Witzend Tue 25-Nov-25 12:30:27

At the moment, I’m finishing the 2nd (final) sheep for the Nativity set. It’s supposed to be 3, but they are such a @%xx* fiddle!

Sillymoo Tue 11-Nov-25 17:14:39

Just finished this for granddaughter. Moss stitch cardigan, pattern from Hobbycraft.

I have perfect gauge for another identical gansey, a different colour and a different make of yarn, this time it is Blackers yarn, not as soft as frangipani but still nice. I bought the wool months ago. This will be a perfect knit for me through the Christmas period and also best done while I remember the tricky bits

Anchor gansey by Blackers is the pattern. None of these jumpers weights are cheap, not when they are good wool, definitely worth looking after

I spent a bit of time yesterday, winding balls on my lykke from the swift, which holds the skeins. Had that equipment ages btw, for spinning. I made the swatch and washed in the machine with wool wash, blocked and only then measured this morning

I will have two items on the needles, I am on the second pair of socks with 7 pairs to go by Christmas plus the gansey which I will start today, in my size so a fair bit smaller
