Landscape Artist of the Year begins at 8.00 tonight .
On freeview it's on channel 36.

Took me about four efforts to see the programme right through .
I think that I find it relaxing and doze off !
I liked Kim's panting a great deal as I appreciated her interpretation of colour .
Soke of the submissions looked promising but I was disappointed with their effort on the programme .

I liked the painting that won this week. I liked her submission piece too. I wasn't keen on the one with all the coloured lines, I would have picked the one with the two figures instead. I thought the Wild Card winner was amazing. Fancy being able to do that with impaired vision.

Yes, I liked the one with the figures, too. I started watching the repeat and fell asleep too so I still need to watch it properly. At least the orange one didn’t win. Having said that, they were all pretty good. Have they always sat and discussed all of the paintings before or is that new? If so it was good to get an insight into how they make their choices.

I didn’t realise that DT was an artist! 😜

Always enjoy it but I’m often bemused by some of the paintings that look as if they’ve been done by my 8 year old DGD but get high praise from the judges. Others, that I think are simply wonderful are skated over. I must be missing something.

😁
I agree, often the very worst ones are chosen.

For all those who disagree with the judges, yes, art is utterly subjective. Nobody likes everything.

Go to some art galleries, here, abroad, lots to choose from. Pick say half a dozen well-known and much praised and admired artists, say . . .Holbein, Rubens, Canaletto, Bruegel, Renoir, Picasso . . .(many many more of course, it's YOUR list!) . . . see if you like them all. Maybe you do, others wouldn't. Choose another group, at some point you'll find a few that you think are utter tripe. Just an opinion . . .get the picture?!

Half way through my favourite programme and I dozed off !
I was thoroughly enjoying it .
I'd liked Kim's painting .
I recall the visually impaired wild card .

The new judge was pleasant enough but will reserve judgement. We liked Kate Bryon and was sorry to see her go. My dh grumbled that it should have been the Curator “who has too much to say “ and bosses the others around!!!

I thought several lacked the majesty of the scenery. One was decidedly "twee" , but what do I know? 🤷

I almost never agree with the judges. There is some great talent which nearly always gets ignored.

Some excellent work - and I agreed with the shortlist.

After reminding we art loving Grans to watch the new series -guess who completely forgot to watch it ?
It will be on again !

It is repeated tonight on Sky Arts on freeview.

I forgot to watch it. Not sure if I can catch up.

The same episode is usually on several times in the next 7 days.

I watched Potrait artist all through and then missed who won! I suppose I'll have to wait for the repeats...
It's pleasant easy viewing but sometimes the winning choices are odd.

I’m looking forward to it as well, although I usually disagree with the judges. Some of their comments on the paintings make me laugh.

Oh, and I hope that the new presenter is not too idiotic; I don’t understand why a “comedian “ is always chosen. I rarely find them funny.

I'm a bit confused! According to the previews the presenter is still Stephen Mangan.

I know there's a new judge - Kate Bryan is fronting a few Arts programmes now so maybe she's forging ahead with a TV based career.
