How many Grandads do we have and are they happy to be asked things? Step forward lads!

A SOH is the most important thing, pompa. Where would we be without it? grin
Sometimes we feel 'fearful'. I know that I do, pompa. At times like that, I cannot pretend to be cheery. Then something will happen that makes things less 'fearful', and then that's me again - ok till the next time! I have to add, though, that it's mainly family issues that put me in this 'fearful state'! Part of being a parent, isn't it! smile

That's so true, green! I thought it was just me....how silly blush. That 'fearful state' is so familiar to me - thanks for sharing that! smile
And you're right - it can knock you off course without any warning.

I feel better now, Anagram, that you've said you feel the same sometimes! I've had conversations with 2 friends (who don't know each other) today. Each one said she felt the same at times, and always about family.

Hey, Pompa. Is there a map to find the shed?
I found it once, then lost the thread!

I;ve got this pesky PD you see,
and it affects my memory.

It helps me put things into rhyme,
Must go now - I'm out of time!

I'll see you all another day.
(That;s if I can find the way!)

soop Mon 21-May-12 12:38:58

gramps You're the champs! grin

gramps Mon 21-May-12 17:42:26

Thank you soop for your kind retort,
You must be someone's treasure,
I hope that person knows the love,
That we can never measure!

jeni Mon 21-May-12 17:51:40

Ugh, how trite
I think you might
Have tried a little better
To praise a gal
Who all can tell
Is a great go getter!

soop Mon 21-May-12 18:09:07

wink grin xx

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 18:12:52

Poor gramps!

gramps Mon 21-May-12 19:24:24

Twice before, moments ago, I worded a reply,
But both have vanished into cyberspace
Before my very eye!
My Lady Jen, A stout defender you,
Apologies to you and soop,
And now I'll say goodbye!
I'm leaving you for food you see,
With a twinkle in my eye!
lol

jeni Mon 21-May-12 19:30:59

I rather like 'my lady Jen' it has ascertain 'je ne sais quoi?'

pompa Mon 21-May-12 19:37:43

Hi Gramps, here are the directions to our shed :-

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 20:06:34

hmm Not so sure about the 'stout' bit, though, jeni!

jeni Mon 21-May-12 20:35:37

It's true! So why not?

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 20:42:27

Not very gentlemanly, that's all.

jeni Mon 21-May-12 21:04:53

No bother!smile any way I think he meant doughty?

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 21:12:40

Of course he did! Hearts of oak and all that...
(Was only joking about the ungentlemanliness, Gramps!)

gramps Mon 21-May-12 23:40:29

I thought stout"as being strong / sturdy,
not in width or girth,
but as a person full of valour.
Grounded, down to earth!
Now doughty is a word that seldom have I heard,
But it sounds ok to me, so,
Therefore, let it be!

gramps Mon 21-May-12 23:46:25

Many thanks kind Pompa,
Now I have the key.
I'll procure a jam and creamy cake,
We'll share it with our tea!

Hello, I know this thread is a bit old but I thought I'd add my name if anyone is still interested.

Only joined the site today after hearing about it on Radio 4 last night - it was described as a 'social networking site for older people'.

I don't know if I'm what is expected from a grandad - usless at diy, don't own a shed, don't play golf....

But happy to talk about books, music, films, sport (not golf) and any issues of the day. And just being a grandad (with a 5 year old grandaughter who I don't see nearly enough of).

harrigran Sat 02-Jun-12 17:38:30

Welcome glennd flag another granddad, more the merrier. You don't have to restrict yourself to male topics, all input is good.

shysal Sat 02-Jun-12 18:08:56

Welcome glendd, hope you find plenty to interest, amuse and entertain you on here. I recommend the 'this made me laugh' thread under 'chat'. Happy Gransnetting!
