Things are clearing for me and I can now see the woods for the trees..

We went to see a lovely little flat on Thursday. Having our house valued on Monday. I'm really looking forward to finding out it's current value. If we can sell our house quickly, and decide to buy the flat, we will have to sell everything and I mean everything, as nothing we own with the exception of our beds will fit. It will be fun!

Further to my post on Thursday, clearing the rubbish in the garden never happened. sad DS's friend had to stay with his sick girlfriend, so DS borrowed his van to collect some new fence panels to make it look as if something was happening and, of course, the panels wouldn't fit! So right back to square one AGAIN.

They sound fabulous Ceesnan . We will see you coming a mile away grin

I used to live in Doc Martens when I was younger, together with long floaty dresses and skirts. You are right, once they are "broken in" it will be like walking on air.

Breaking in my lovely new yellow patent Doc Martens. At 68 I have my first pair and though they are a bit snug at the moment I know that with a bit of patience (and thick socks!) I will have the comfiest footware in the world smile

I just love being alive having made 71. I feel lucky to have made it this far with my own teeth, a wardrobe full of nice clothes I enjoy wearing and keeping my children on their toes by annoying them. Apparently, I spend too much money on the grandchildren, but they love me as I make them laugh.
Never be a miserable old women. They say; Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone. I should say, I run a mile from a hangdog face of any age.

C'mon crun; you have our scintilating conversation to look forward to every day [gransnet being the only thing that gets me out of bed in the morning/afternoon..that and a cup of tea]....

In the throws of things here. Dad now going into a home, mum very poorly, son still an annoying teen and brother having blood tests for some serious diseases as docs don't know what is wrong with him. Give it a few months and things might have calmed a little, fingers crossed. smile

Good job I have my little doggie. smile

The final part of my divorce finishing hopefully in April, horrible ex has made it as difficult as he can for as long as possible. It's been a strain now for a long time. On a lighter note a long weekend away in a nice hotel with friends and a lovely holiday booked at Easter with both daughters and the grandchildren, can't wait! Also waiting for lovely new furniture to arrive

Coolgran65 Wed 04-Feb-15 18:10:44

A contented year with good health and happiness for ourselves, our 4 boys, their wives and children. smile

janerowena Wed 04-Feb-15 16:55:28

I would dearly love an uneventful year, but I don't think such a thing exists if you have a family.

annsixty Wed 04-Feb-15 16:32:02

I too would like the Chinese curse "may you live in interesting times" lifted. How strange that so many of us long for a boring and uneventful life , a thought that wouldn't have occured to us in our younger days But then, thank goodness ,we didn't know what lurked round the corner.

Lona Wed 04-Feb-15 16:26:29

Fingers crossed [kitty] xx

kittylester Wed 04-Feb-15 16:08:01

Lona, (((hugs))).

I, too, would like an uneventful year!! With 5 children and a mother I doubt I'll get it but I can dream.

I am looking forward to a weekend away at the end of February, a river cruise in April and DD3 moving out - but only round the corner which will be the best of both worlds!

merlotgran Wed 04-Feb-15 16:06:01

Getting cracking with our building conversion which we had hoped to start last year. There have been lots of hold ups. The architect messed up the planning application so the permission was delayed by four months. Mum's end of life care and eventual death knocked the stuffing out of us all and now DD is facing a few financial challenges which we we are helping her to sort out. Not a lot of choice in the matter because they are now living with us but it has knocked a bit of a hole in the building budget.

We now need some warm weather to give us a kick up the whatsit motivate us.

Lona Wed 04-Feb-15 15:44:51

I was looking forward to a peaceful year, before I have to sell up and move on, thanks to our idiot. However, the bad stuff is still coming, just from a different direction!

So, I shall look forward to lunch with friends on Monday hmm

janerowena Wed 04-Feb-15 15:17:05

My beautiful young niece's wedding at the end of August. She has had three major brain operations in three years, the last only last August. We are praying she won't need another one before the wedding, but they are such a lovely couple and are so happy together.

tanith Wed 04-Feb-15 15:15:25

OH finally retiring in May , I've always felt a bit guilty that I had to take ill-health retirement some time ago and he had to continue working, so come May we can then enjoy plenty of days out and holidays together... he can't wait..

KatyK Wed 04-Feb-15 14:48:00

No more hospitals and cancer treatment for DH now he has had good news smile
