I can't believe that I have just given details for 10 ideas and the whole shooting match has disappeared!!
OK here we go again
Waitrose have some good boxes of freezable canapes - I got mine when they were 3 for 2!
OR if you really want to do any
1) mini meatballs (beef or lamb mince if lamb nice with added extra spice, inc cinnamon) served hot with variety of dips- home made tomato sauce, mustard,(not if using lamb) chutney
2) mini quiches - make in advance then warm up and puff up in the oven on the day
3) mini pizzas - I just cut circles out with a pastry cutter - the cheaper and more basic the pizza the better
4) anchovy allumetttes: one layer of puff pastry brushed with beaten egg, slivers of anchovies, second layer of puff pastry on top, roll out a bit to get them to stick together, cut into narrow strips and give on twist before baking or roll up into a swiss roll shape and cut into pinwheels before baking
5) mini blinis, dollop of Philly then a smidgeon of (fake- lumpfish) caviar on the top
6) smoked salmon pinwheels - sliced brown bread, give it an extra roll with a rolling pin to firm up the texture and help it to bend- spread with cream cheese, black pepper and s/salmon, roll into swiss roll shape, wrap in clingfilm to chill then unwrap and slice into pinwheels
7)cut circles of white sliced bread using a small pastry cutter brush both sides with melted butter then bake until golden. Spread anything you like on them - a good quality liver pate or kipper/mackerel pate
8) a "retro" cubed cheese and pineapple hedgehog (?)
9) chicken wings/drumsticks - baked in a barbecue sauce/honey and orange juice/tandoori mix and natural yogurt
10) &*CRISPS!!!!
